Drivers Ready To Kick Start The Holiday Weekend At Lakeside Friday Night!

KANSAS CITY, KS (May 21, 2012) – Great racing returns this Friday night, May 25, 2012 at Lakeside Speedway for Seeburg Muffler Night at the races.

After a horrible season in 2012, Lakeside Speedway has rebounded well in 2012. Awesome car counts and a large number of weekly spectators have been the highlight. Each week the drivers in the B Mods, Factory Stocks, Grand Nationals and Modifieds put on exciting races each and every week.

This week’s races will get fans and racers, alike, ready to go for the holiday weekend. The racers of Lakeside Speedway are ready to provide everyone that comes out to Lakeside Speedway an early present for Memorial Day, FANTASTIC Racing!

Last week at Lakeside Speedway more than 100 cars checked in to shoot it out at the fast half mile in KCK. In 2012 there have been 20 features raced at Lakeside Speedway. Out of those 20 features, 16 different drivers have claimed hardware in victory lane. That means 80 percent of the time you are seeing a different winner in victory lane. As a matter of fact, the Factory Stock & B Mod classes have yet to see a repeat winner 5 weeks into the season. Gary Donaldson is the only repeat winner in the Grand National division. The percentage of different winners would be a lot higher if Tim Karrick and Cody Agler would allow someone else to win in the Modified class.

Kelby Ostrander finally broke into the win column in the Grand Nationals last week. It was his first win at Lakeside since 2009. Ostrander’s run last week was very impressive. He drove to the front of the field and held on through numerous yellows to take the win. Fans like the way that Kelby drives too. It seems that his driving style is all the way to the floor 24/7! The confidence builder of a victory could but him back in victory lane again this weekend.

The field of Grand Nationals still continues to grow. A full field was never thought of with this class a few years ago and now it’s the norm.

In the B Mod division it was the veteran, Gene Claxton, getting the win. At times his car doesn’t handle the best, but when you have raced and won as much as Claxton has over the years, he finds a way to get the job done. His win last week garaunteed that his streak of having at least one victory per season will continue for another year. Since 2003, Claxton has won at least one feature per year! Another great stat that he holds is that he is the only driver at Lakeside Speedway, since returning to dirt, to win features in 3 of the 4 classes that race at Lakeside.

Don’t look for everyone to bow down to Claxton, this class has had a B feature every week and their are a lot of drivers looking to go to the front of the line!

Five winners have also collected feature wins in the Factory Stock class. Each and every year this class has some of the best competition in the Midwest. Lakeside has been known for having some of the best races in this division. Last week Brett Heeter drove to his 1st win of the season. Heeter, a former champion, had to step away from racing last year while leading the point standings. Unfortunately for everyone the season ended shortly after he walked away, but fans can rejoice this year as Heeter has come back with a vengance! The win should show fans that Heeter means business this season.

The rest of the competition also means business too. Drivers in this class have been highlighted by all types, rookies, veterans and total newcomers to the sport. Look for another new face in victory lane this week.

The Modified class has been tougher than ever, the only problem is that two Skyrocket drivers, Cody Agler and Tim Karrick, have been at their best. Between the two drivers nobody else has been to victory lane in the division. Several have come close to knocking them off, but in the end Agler and Karrick have been the Dynamic Duo! The big question amongst the fans is, who will be the first driver other than the Dynamic Duo to get a win? It looked as if Kerry Davis might have got it done last week, but it was only a matter of time before Karrick got by Davis and drove off to the win. This week will be a whole new ball game and we will see what the outcome is in the end.

Spectator gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps start at 7 p.m. and the first race goes green at 7:30 p.m.

Adult tickets are $12, kids 8 to 14 are $6 and children 7 and under are FREE every week at Lakeside Speedway.
