IMCA SportMods added to Davenport Speedway weekly program for 2013

DAVENPORT, Ia. (March 22, 2013) – It may be cold outside now, but soon the 2013 racing season will be upon us. The Davenport Speedway is already gearing up for the upcoming season of speed.

The weekly Friday night racing program will see a new addition this year. IMCA SportMods will join the IMCA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and 4-Stocks. SportMod is an affordable class for racers to gain valuable, behind the wheel, racing experience.

Racers will get a chance to try out their new rides for the 2013 season at an open practice session, on Friday, March 29th. The practice session is open to all classes and will be held on the quarter-mile oval.

Racing action begins on Saturday, April 6th, when the Brockway Mechanical & Roofing Sprint Invaders come to town. The winged warriors will compete on the quarter-mile oval. Also racing with the sprint cars will be 4-Stocks and the IMCA SportMods.

The high speed excitement moves over to the half-mile track on Friday, April 12th, for the Cornbelt Clash Late Model Series. The late models will be joined on the track by the IMCA Modifieds and DTR Street Stocks.

The Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models makes their first of two 2013 appearances on Friday, April 19th. IMCA Modifieds, DTR Street Stocks, IMCA SportMods, and 4-Stocks will also be competing on the quarter-mile track.

The battle for the Davenport Speedway 2013 track championships begin in earnest, on April 26th, at the Koehler Electric Season Opener. All five weekly classes: Petersen Plumbing and Heating IMCA Late Model, EMS IMCA Modified, Koehler Electric Street Stock, Hawkeye Auto IMCA SportMod, and Roto-Rooter 4-Stocks, will be in action.

The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates will open at 4:30pm, grandstand at 5:00pm, with hotlaps at 6:30, and racing at 7:00pm.
