| June 16, 2014

Quincy, Illinois (June 16, 2014) – 15-year-old Jake Griffin has enjoyed considerable success at I-44 Speedway (Lebanon, Missouri) over the past year, and he again etched his name into the history books at the paved oval on Saturday evening by winning the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model event.

After a few weeks away from the driver’s seat Jake opened the weekend by returning to UMP Modified competition on Friday night with a trip to Jacksonville Speedway (Jacksonville, Illinois). Jake enjoyed a solid outing by advancing from the tenth starting spot to a fifth place finish at the checkered flag. Griffin bolted to the his second victory of 2014 on Saturday night with a triumph at Lebanon I-44 Speedway (Lebanon, Missouri)!  Piloting Brennon Willard’s NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Jake started fifth on the grid for the finale. He progressively worked his way through the field before taking the lead with nine laps to go from JC Newell. Once out front he never looked back on his way to the win.

“The motor started to develop a miss after the last restart, but we were able to keep up the speed in the corners and gain ground on the leader.” Griffin explained in the winner’s circle. “I saw JC (Newell) getting a little bit loose and figured it was time we went to the front. Kevin Crider and the crew gave me a great handling car tonight and I could put it about anywhere on the track. We knew we had a car for the end of the race and the long green run helped us out.”

Kaleb Allison grabbed the runner-up spot with Newell, early leader Terry Limberopoulos and Steve Holt Full rounding out the top five finishers.  Full results from the event are available at www.I44Speedway.net .

The weekend drew to a close on Sunday evening with the traditional trip to Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois) for a Weekly Racing Series Event.
