JUST THREE WEEKS REMAIN IN THE 2016 HAWKEYE DOWNS RACING SEASON

LIL RACER CAR CLUB “KIDS RIDING IN RACE CARS THIS FRIDAY NIGHT!”

 (Cedar Rapids, IA  08/03/2016)—It’s week thirteen of the 2016 HyVee Racing Series this Friday night! Don’t let your opportunity slip away to see a race this season!  Just three races remain culminating with Season Championship Night on Friday August 19.

            It’s also Lil Racer Car Club “Kids Riding In Race Cars,“ this Friday night!

            Feature win bonus points were awarded to all feature winners who have competed in 66% of the race events this season after last Friday’s races. Qualifying drivers receive one additional point for each feature win earned this season and will continue to receive bonus points for the last three races of the season.

            Looking at the current point races, Greg Hentrich has a scant three-point margin over Jim Hanson in Mountain Dew Sportsmen.

            Brian Gibson continues to lead the way in Performance Concepts Late Models and after his win last Friday night has increased his lead over Brad Osborn.

            Jim Hanson has built a comfortable lead in Anderson Automotive Hobby Stocks but certainly doesn’t have the championship locked up as one bad week can drastically alter the standings.

            Dallas Chandler holds the top spot in the Miller Time Hornets and while he has a comfortable lead he hasn’t clinched the championship in that division.

Kevin Korsmo holds the point lead in the Dublin City Pub INEX Legends and just like the other divisions the championship is far from over.

The Dodge Street Tire Lil’ Racer Car Club will be on hand Friday night as well and will be presenting “Kids Riding in Race Cars” The popular activity allows kids to ride with a Hawkeye Downs driver in a real race car for some slow laps around the track. Kids should check in at the clubhouse under the main Grandstand to register for weekly prizes.

            Hawkeye Downs and Hy-Vee have again teamed up to offer a new and improved concessions menu this season along with the return of Pepsi Products for 2016. Your favorite adult beverages are available as well!

Don’t forget “Happy Hour at Hawkeye Downs” with 2 for 1 Tallboys from 6-7pm!

The Front Gate and Concessions open at 6:00pm.  Pre-Race Ceremonies including the introduction of the “Joan Feller Memorial Driver of the Week”, Invocation and National Anthem will begin at 7:20pm with the first race at 7:30.

Adult Admission (ages 18-61) is $10, Senior Citizens (62+) are $7, Students (Ages 11-17) are $7, and Children 10 and Under are absolutely FREE with a paid Adult!
