DAVENPORT, Iowa (Jan. 18) – A third IMCA division joins Friday night programs at Davenport Speedway this season.

Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are new to the ¼-mile dirt oval and complement IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Late Models.

“The uniform rules are important and I like the idea of the crate engine,” promoter Bob Wagener said. “The Northern SportMods are another good entry level division. It’s a long step from our four stock class to our street stocks.”

Open practices are March 29 and April 5. The point season at Davenport runs from April 26 to Aug. 23.

Modifieds at Davenport are part of IMCA’s Belleville Motorsports North Central Region and also headline the $2,000 to win Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying special on May 24.

Two Deery Brothers Summer Series Late Model events are also on the schedule, April 19 and Sept. 21.
