L A Raceway Crowns 2012 Champions in Finale

LAMONTE, MO (Aug 10, 2012) – L A Raceway ended its 2012 season on a high note with great action on the track and a large crowd to witness the Airgas of Sedalia and Lincoln Electric night at the races.

Michael Tyler, Knob Noster, ran away with the win in the Hobby Stocks in his usual fast form with John Simpson and Joey Arnold, both of Sedalia, in tow. This was the sixth win of the year for Tyler. The Xtreme Motors Street Stocks feature unraveled in wild fashion with Ted Welschmeyer of Tebbetts, surviving the carnage and crossing the finish line first in front of John Brooks, Warrensburg and Travis Faulkenberry, Urich. Another win by the ‘girl’ driver, Lauren Klem of Basehor, Kansas in the Gill Signs 305 Sprints, shows she’s the ‘real deal’, making it her third win of the season. Klem was chased to the finish line by Mike Schouten, LaMonte, and Chad Goff, Spring Hill, Kansas. Galen Hassler of Columbia did what he had already done four other times this season, winning the competitive Jim’s Tire Service B Modified class which also saw him taking home a Lincoln Electric Welder given by Airgas of Sedalia. Hassler didn’t have to look far behind him however to find Tyler Lewis, also of Columbia, and Chad Staus of Otterville who finished second and third in the feature. The Pitts Homes of Warsaw USRA A Modified division saw a second time winner with Matt Dotson of Clark taking the checkered flag and a Lincoln Electric Welder from Airgas of Sedalia. Dotson was followed to the line by Mickey Burrell, Fair Grove and four time winner, Terry Schultz, Sedalia.

Following the night’s race program, Mike White, promoter, presented beautiful trophies to the top five point earners in each division including the class champions and also presented plaques to the ‘hard chargers’ who are the drivers with the most positions gained throughout the season in the feature events.

John Simpson, Sedalia, won two feature events this season and took home the “Hobby Stock” Champion hardware. Second in points was Tyler followed by Chuck Coffey, Windsor and Chase Gibson and Will Register both of Sedalia. Register also received the ‘hard charger’ award.

The Xtreme Motors Street Stock Champion was Marc Carter of Warrensburg after winning five feature events. Second in points was Scott Krause, Concordia followed by Welschmeyer, Kevin Perkins, Sedalia and Ron Bettis, Knob Noster. Welschmeyer was also the hard charger.

Following another dominating performance in winning eight feature events, Mitchell Moore, Edgerton, Kansas, was crowned the Gill Signs 305 Sprint Champion. In second was Klem, followed closely by young Jordan Creason, Carrollton; Schouten, and Tony Crank, Sedalia. Creason also received the ‘hard charger’ award.

The Jim’s Tire Service B Modified Champion was undecided until the final checkered flag as Staus took the Championship trophy by only five points over Lewis. Third in points was Josh Calvert, Hallsville followed by Adam Belt, Syracuse and Jeremiah Wilson, Concordia. Ernie Walker of Sedalia received the ‘hard charger’ award.

Terry Schultz of Sedalia ran away with the Pitts Homes of Warsaw USRA A Modified Championship, winning four feature events and fighting off an endless list of talented challengers including Justin Moon, Sedalia; Chad Lyle, Oak Grove; Christopher Moon, Sedalia; and Nathan Vaughn, Lincoln who finished in that order in points. Steve Twenter of Sedalia finished sixth in points and received the ‘hard charger’ award.

With the 2012 season now in the record books, plans are already underway for next season at L A Raceway with action slated to begin in March. To keep updated follow the track at facebook.com/la.track or check out the website at laraceway.com.
