Lee County Speedway Releases an Updated 2013 Schedule

DONNELLSON, IA (March 7, 2013) – Track promoter, Mike Van Genderen, is proud to release an updated schedule for the 2013 season at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA. While the weekly classes haven’t changed much, with the exception of the Hobby Stocks going to IMCA in 2013, there is plenty of exciting nights planned for the new season. 

The 2013 season is set to kick off on Friday, March 29th with the Mohrfeld Electric Spring Extravaganza, featuring the IMCA Modifieds going for a $1,000 top prize, with a $30 entry fee. This will also be a Fast Shaft All-Star Invitational Qualifier. The IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA SportMods will be going for a top prize of $500 to win, with a $25 entry fee. While the IMCA Hobby Stocks will be racing for $300 to win with a $20 entry fee, and the IMCA Sport Compacts going for a top prize of $200 to win with a $15 entry fee. All though this is not a track points event, IMCA national, state and regional points will be awarded in all five classes. Pit gates will open at 5:00pm, grandstands at 5:30pm, with hot laps set for 6:45pm, and racing at 7:15pm. Pit passes will be $25, while the grandstands will be adults $12, students (7-17) $6 and kids 6 and under FREE! 

Following the season opener will be two weekends of Sprint Car racing, as the Sprint Invaders will make there first of three visits to the speedway on Friday, April 5th. Joining the Sprint Invaders on the night will be the STARS Mod Lite Series, along with season points openers for the IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods and IMCA Sport Compacts. Then on Friday, April 12th will be the 5th Annual Brian Hetrick Memorial, featuring the 305 Sprints going for a $1,000 top prize. Also in action on the night will be points openers for the IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Hobby Stocks. While the IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods and IMCA Sport Compacts continue there chase for the track championship. 

Weekly racing action continues on Friday, April 19th, April 26th, May 3rd and May 10th. While the 305 Sprints join the weekly classes on Friday, May 17th. Followed by the Mississippi Valley Vintage Race Cars entertaining the crowd on Friday, May 24th. 

The weekly points battle continues on Friday, May 31st. While the following Friday, June 7th will be a fan appreciation night, with more details to follow. The 305 Sprints will join the action for there third appearance of the season on Friday, June 14th. 

Then on Thursday, June 20th the Sprint Invaders return for the second time of 2013 at the speedway, as Budweiser presents Open Wheel Night. Also on the card for the night will be the return of the Hawkeye Dirt Tour for the IMCA Modifieds, along with the IMCA SportMods and IMCA Sport Compacts. 

Weekly racing action resumes on Friday, June 28th and again on July 5th. Then the Lee County Fair race will be held on Friday, July 12th, featuring the final visit of 2013 by the Sprint Invaders. Another weekly points night returns for Friday, July 19th. While the 305 Sprints join the card on Friday, July 26th for there final appearance of 2013 at the track. The final weekly event before season championship night is set for Friday, August 2nd. While the track takes two weeks off on Friday, August 9th and 16th, before returning on Friday, August 23rd for season championship night. 

The 2013 season will close out with a special on Friday, September 13th, followed by the two day Fall Extravaganza set for Friday, October 11th and Saturday, October 12th. While the final event of the 2013 season will be Shiverfest on Saturday, October 26th. 

Mike is also happy to announce that Budweiser will return as the class sponsor for the IMCA Modifieds, Donnellston Tire returns as the class sponsor for the IMCA Stock Cars, Shottenkirk Parts Express will return as the class sponsor for the IMCA SportMods, with Coor’s Light returning to sponsor the IMCA Hobby Stocks, and Sunline Auto Parts as the class sponsor for the IMCA Sport Compacts. Also T.A. Tire and Auto returns as the sponsor for the JR. Fan Club. 

The weekly Friday night events will get started with gates opening at 5:30pm, hot laps are set for 7:00pm and racing at 7:30pm.
