Lincoln Speedway/Logan County Fairgrounds Unveil Upgraded Audio System for 23rd Season of Racing

| April 9, 2025

LINCOLN, IL – As Lincoln Speedway prepares to kick off its 23rd season of racing this Sunday, April 13, fans and teams alike will notice a major enhancement to the facility – a brand-new public address (PA) system, designed to deliver crystal-clear sound and an elevated race day experience.

The upgraded audio system was made possible thanks to generous donations from the Bob Metz Estate. A beloved local figure, Bob Metz was the longtime owner of P&M Communications in Lincoln and a passionate supporter of motorsports and community events. For years, Metz was also the familiar voice of the morning show on 96.3 “Lincoln Country”, especially during the Logan County Fair, where he read event lineups and results with unmatched enthusiasm and charm.

Metz passed away in 2023, but his legacy continues to resonate – now literally. The improved sound system ensures that fans will hear every announcement, interview, and call to the green flag with clarity, while race teams will benefit from stronger, more reliable communication throughout the night.

“Bob was a big part of the Lincoln community,” said Lincoln Speedway promoter Adam Mackey. “We’re honored to carry on his legacy through this upgrade thanks to Bob as well as the Logan County Fairgrounds and audio engineer Brian Boggs.”

The 2025 Season Opener on Sunday, April 13 will feature five action-packed divisions: DIRTcar Pro Late Models, DIRTcar Modifieds, MARA Midgets, DIRTcar

Sportsman, and Crown Vics.
