May 16 date at Clay County next for Karl Performance Hawkeye Dirt Tour
SPENCER, Iowa (May 13) – Round two of the Karl Performance Hawkeye Dirt Tour sees IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at the Clay County Fairgrounds Speedway for the first time on Thursday, May 16.
The feature event pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $150 to start. Other sanctioned divisions on the card at Spencer are the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow.
Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $6 for kids ages 6-12 and free for youngsters five and under. Pit passes are $30.
The fourth annual tour opened May 7 at Benton County Speedway in Vinton with the win going to Cayden Carter, who is questionable to be among the contenders at Spencer: The Oskaloosa High School student doesn’t get out of class until after 3 p.m. on race day.
The defending series champion is Jay Noteboom of Hinton, who already owns a major career highlight at Spencer. He won for the 100th time in his IMCA career on the Clay County oval on Sept. 13 of 2007.
Series point standings will be based on drivers’ best 10 finishes out of the 13 events on the 2013 schedule.
All Hawkeye Dirt Tour events are broadcast on internet-based network XSAN, the series presentation sponsor, and are qualifying races for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.
