BLOOMFIELD, IOWA (July 7, 2012) – Temperatures were very hot to start the night but by nights end it would e way cooler however for the racing on the race track was very heated all night and it would take until the last lap to see who would be going in to victory lane on Pepsi Fan Apperciation Night at the Mountain Dew Bloomfield Speedway. Night also featured the Sport Compacts running 2 features because it was Sport Compacts Double Down 2.
First feature of the night was the first Kollision Korner Sport Compact feature. Kassidy Kirkpatrick would lead lap 1 but slide up the hill giving the lead over to Tim Bevins and the the first race caution would come out for Kelly Osborne losing a right rear tire in turn 2. On the restart, Kirkpatrick would pass Bevins to take the lead back and then another car would lose a tire in turn 1 on lap 3 so on the restart Bevins would get back by and would hold on until the next caution came out on lap 5 when Mike Hornung Jr. and Steve Williams Jr would get together in turns 3 and 4. Again on the restart it would be Kirkpatrick taking the lead for Bevins and the the caution would come out again for the 3rd victim of a right rear tire going down but this time on the restart Kirkpatrick would maintain the lead. Kirkpatrick would continue to lead when the caution would come out on lap 10 for a couple of cars getting together in turns 1 and 2. Kirkpatrick would lead the final 2 laps and take the win with Anthony Cassat in 2nd, Kevin Garrett in 3rd, Bevins would come back up after being penalized on the last caution to finish 4th and Trent Orwig was 5th.
The Kirkland Auto Hobby Stocks feature saw Tim Pettibone take the lead on lap 1 but it was Rocky Fosdyck making the pass for the lead on lap 2. Fosdyck would continue to lead despite a caution on lap 4 but on lap 9, Mike Hughes would make the pass and take the lead shortly after the caution came out. Hughes would lead the remaining laps to take the win , Fosdyck was 2nd, Danny Thrasher was 3rd, Nick Ulin was 4th and Scott Shull was 5th.
In the Taylor Automotive Stock Car feature it was Todd Phillips jumping to the lead but then a caution would come out for Corey Townsend going around turn 3. Phillips would not let that bother him but would have to deal with Jim Redmann and Redmann would let Phillips know every lap was there and would try to make several attempts to get by but failed and then a caution came out on lap 10 that resulted in a red flag when Sam McClure would find his world upside down in turn 1, McClure would be okay and the car would only have some minor damage but it ended the night for McClure. Phillips would off Redmann the remaining 7 laps to take the win. Louis Lynch, Gary Harward and Mike Harward would round out the top 5.
Karr Collison Center Modifieds feature would see Tyler Vandekamp take the lead and it appeared as if Vandekamp was going to take the win easily after holding off Brandon Banks early on but Young Gun Cayden Carter would chase him down and try to make the pass for the win on the last lap but it was Vandekamp winning by a bumper over Carter. Banks was 3rd, Ryan Cook was 4th and Adam Birck was 5th.
The Mike’s Tire and Alignment SportMod feature was up next and it was Phillip Cossel taking the early lead but just after 2 laps was completed the first caution would come out. Cossel would continue to lead but Brandon Dale would slingshot to the lead on lap 5 and shortly after the caution came out for a handful of cars getting together in turns 3 and 4. On the restart, Dale would be passed by Jason McDaniel. McDaniel would hold off any late race challenges to take his 2nd win in a row at Bloomfield. Carter Vandenberg, Dale, Brett Lowry and Mark Mundell rounding out the top 5.
Final feature was the Kollison Korner Sport Compacts 2nd feature and this feature would be far less eventful as the first feature as Darren Smith would lead all 12 laps in the feature that would go from start-to-finish without a caution. Kevin Kirkpatrick was 2nd, Kassidy Kirkpatrick was 3rd, Anthony Cassat was 4th and Brandon Housley was 5th.
