Memorial Day Deery at Boone a Top 40 chart topper
BOONE, Iowa (May 23, 2013) – One of the most popular destinations for the Deery Brothers Summer Series rolls out the red carpet for touring IMCA Late Models for the 40th time on Memorial Day.
Boone Speedway welcomes the top Late Model drivers in the Midwest for a $3,000 to win, minimum $300 to start show on Monday, May 27.
Pit gates and the grandstand open at 2 p.m., hot laps are at 4 p.m. and racing is at 5 p.m. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mod Lites complete the card and there is no entry fee for those divisions.
Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and $5 for kids. Pit passes are $30.
May 27 is also Budweiser Night at the speedway, with free straw-ber-rita samples served in the Bud Tent from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
$2 bottles will be sold from 2-4 p.m., $8 draft buckets from 4-6 p.m. and $2 cups from 6 p.m.-close. Giveaways are planned all evening, with the drawing for a Budweiser neon at 6:30 p.m.
The Deery Series made its first appearance at Boone in 1988 and Memorial Day Deery programs date back to 2001.
Gary Webb of Blue Grass leads all drivers with five career series wins here. Jeff Aikey of Cedar Falls and Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Ill., are both three-time winners, Guss having accomplished the feat in consecutive events.
Marshalltown’s Darrel DeFrance has competed at all 408 events in series history, winning at Boone in 1992 and 2005. Mike Murphy Jr. of Colona, Ill., won both Deery events held here last year.
Boone hosts a second holiday show for the Deery Series on Labor Day, Sept. 2. That’s opening night of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
