MID-AMERICAN STOCK CAR SERIES ON THE CARD WITH FIVE HAWKEYE DOWNS DIVISIONS THIS FRIDAY NIGHT

Cedar Rapids, IA (May 15, 2013) – With week one in the books, racing actions returns to Hawkeye Downs Speedway this Friday night as Darrah’s Towing-The Official Towing Service Provider of Hawkeye Downs Speedway-  presents  action in the Hy-Vee ~ I-Wireless Championship Series. 

Five of the six regular divisions will take to the track along with the return of the Mid-American Stock Car Series. (http://www.midamericanracing.com/)  The Mountain Dew Sportsmen have the night off although those drivers can run with the Mid-Am series as the Sportsmen cars at Hawkeye Downs are based on Mid-AM cars. Drivers are expected from several states in the Midwest as the touring series takes to the Hawkeye Downs half-mile.  

A full night of heat and feature action is on tap with Carpetland USA Late Models Miller Time Modifieds, Barron Motor Supply Hobby Stocks, Sunline Hornets, and Dublin City Pub Legend Cars taking to the track for their second points events of the season. A new point system is in effect for the 2013 season which promises to add new excitement to the point standings.

Kids will want to visit the Goodyear Tire Stores Lil’ Racers Car Club table under the main Grandstand to sign up for the free club and see what activities are in store for them in 2013!  Younger members can participate in a special coloring contest this week.’

During Intermission, the Cedar Rapids Police K-9 unit has scheduled a special demonstration. 

Hawkeye Downs and Hy-Vee have teamed up to offer a new and improved concessions menu this season along with the return of Pepsi Products for 2013. 

The Front Gate opens at 6pm with  MID-AM hot laps at 6pm. The Mid-AM Series cars will qualify at 7PM. Pre-Race Ceremonies will begin at 7:25pm with the first race at 7:30pm.  

Hawkeye Downs continues to hold the line on admission prices. Adult admission is STILL  just $10, Senior Citizens (62+) are $7, Students over 12 are just $5, College Students are just $5 with a valid ID and Children 12 and Under are absolutely FREE!
