Midway Close Racing Action Provides Close Point Races
LEBANON, MO (May 3, 2012) – Midway Speedway in Lebanon will be back to racing action Sat Night with some very close point battles on hand.
Last Sat. night a super smooth racing surface helped bring near photo finishes in al classes as 3 new winners taking their first wins this season.
In Factory Sock class has had 3 different winners so far as a 3-way tie for the top spot has Bob Gustin,Tim Petty, and Brian Schutt al with 130 points as Brandon waters in only 10 points behind and last years Rookie Shawn Whitman 28 behind.Last Sat gave all the Factory drivers bonus points for competing in the special paying event.
In the B-Modified division,the last 3 weeks has produced 3 different winners,but Ted Ballinger has his car in the number 1 spot leading the pack with 151 points while 2-time champion Jason Otto holds down second with 129 points.Tony Moore,Bill Schaar and Tim Ballinger round out the top 5.None of the top 5 have won a feature yet this season but have all been close together in competition.
The Pure Stock class in so close as 2 time winner Rob White holds a narrow 1 point lead over defending champion Matt Young.Rookie Caleb Starnes moved into the third place position only 30 markers back.Larry Flaugher and Tyler Schoen and his money rider complete the top 5.Young was able to stopWhite’s winning streak last Sat night.
Midwest Modified point leader Sam Petty got back in the winners circle with a victory,but Lebanon’s Travis Hill is only 5 points behind Petty as top 3 runs has Hill keeping the heat on.Rookie Billy Pearce,Chris Cheevers and Tim Ballinger Jr complete the top 5. Cheevers who bought Tim Jones Midwest Modified is getting closer to the winners circle as the former Strret Stock driver is looking for that 1st victory.
With 3 point races complete,Mark Simon has won all 3 features vaulting him to a 17 point lead over defending champion Joe Francis.Francis problems last week in the feature hurt him overall,but it is still early in the season as Matt Darnell is coming on strong in third only 16 from the top spot.Rookie Brandon Henderson moved into 4th place and lady driver Karla Lampe has cracked into the top 5. All of Simon’s wins have come from the back of the pack as Midway’s rules call for the previous winners to start towards the rear.
Grandstand gates open at 5PM with hotlaps at 6:30 and racing at 7:30 .
