PEORIA SPEEDWAY CANCELLED FOR JUNE 2; BOHLANDER TRIBUTE NEXT

| June 2, 2012

PEORIA, IL (June 2, 2012) – A late afternoon rain storm washed away the UMP racing program, scheduled for Saturday, June 2 at Peoria Speedway. The “Don Bohlander Tribute” make-up race, scheduled for Sunday, June 3 is still on schedule.

All efforts were made to prepare the track and pits for racing action after a 2:30 rain storm hit the track, but it was clear there was not enough time to get the track and pits ready. Promoter Curt Mottaz called the race, and preparations began immediately for the “Bohlander Tribute” tomorrow night.

Pit gates open at 3 PM tomorrow, with grandstands at 4 and hot laps at 5. The UMP/Corn Belt Clash program will consist of the “Quick 6 Richard Robison Dash for Cash”, paying a $1,200 purse with $500 going to the winner, B-mains and a 50 lap, $4,000 to-win feature. 31 cars entered the event on April 15 and the field is set, as is the Limited Late Model field. Both classes had completed their heat races when the rain hit in April.

Sunday night will feature completely new programs for the UMP Modifieds and Speedway Motors Illinois Lightning Sprint Cars. The night is a benefit for Parkinson’s Research, with the “Don Bohander FUND Racers” selling 50/50 tickets and T-shirts.
