PictureMeRacing Night At The Races This Week!
KANSAS CITY, KS (June 14, 2012) – It was one week ago that the Factory Stocks, B Mods, Grand Nationals & Modifieds lit up the fast 1/2 mile of Lakeside Speedway.
Metro Sports came to Lakeside to show the viewing area just what goes on at Lakeside Speedway on Friday nights. The night ended up being a success as the action on the speedway shines brighter than any light at the track. This Friday night, June 15, the fans, employees, racers and tv crew will do it all over again for PictureMeNight At The Races.
Eight races into the season and it has been a solid success for Lakeside Speedway. The car count has been averaging triple digits each week, the racing action is as good as it has ever been at Lakeside and in the early part of the season Mother Nature has restored order at Lakeside.
Last Friday night in the Modified division Cody Agler roared to his 3rd win in 2012. Agler made short work getting to the front of the field. From the point position, Agler went off and hid from the competiton.
This season the Modified class has been dominated by two drivers Agler and Tim Karrick. These two drivers have won 7 of the 8 features. It appears that the off-season tinkering has paid dividends to these two drivers. Look for the rest of class to start working overtime to try and match the efforts of Karrick and Agler.
The early season points lead is in the hands of Karrick. Cody Agler, Joe Walker, Nic Bidinger and Bubba Harvey are the rest of the top 5.
Gary Donaldson had to work hard for his win last Friday night. It was his 5th win of the season for Donaldson. He worked his way to the front of the field late in the race and a slip by the leader, Marshall Jewett, allowed Donaldson to head to the top spot. From there it was all Donaldson to the finish.
The points battle is taking shape as Donaldson leads the division by 32 points. Kelby Ostrander, Darren Kling, Jim Baker and Marshall Jewett are in the top 5 looking to move up this week.
One class that is getting better each and every week is the B Mod class. Terry Bruner took over the lead from Luke Nieman with 4 laps to go last week on the way to his 1st win of the season. The main event saw several drivers battle it out. Three, four and five wide racing could be seen on the track. B Mods are slowly becoming a fan favorite.
Top 5 in the points standings currently are Nick Newton, Gene Claxton, Bruner, Mike Higley and Jake Richards.
Just like the B Mods, the Factory Stocks have been providing Lakeside Speedway fans with the old reliable, great close racing. John O’Neal Jr., driving under an alias, put his car into victory lane. Once in victory lane it was time to show everyone just who was behind the wheel. To everyone’s surprise it was O’Neal and not Jim Connely. The feature event had everything, suspense, drama, action and adventure. Factory Stock racers will continue to put on an awesome race this weekend.
In the closest points race at Lakeside Speedway, Justin Sierfert leads Joe Smith Jr. by just a single point in the division. There is still a long way to go for all racers.
Spectator gates open up at 5:00 p.m., hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. and the first green flag racing action goes down at 7:30 p.m.
Adult tickets are $12, kids 8 to 14 will be $6 and children 7 and under get in Free at Lakeside Speedway!
