Point races still in play as Davenport Speedway returns to action this Friday

| August 7, 2024

Davenport, Ia. (August 6, 2024) – And then there were two! Two events left in the Davenport Speedway 2024 regular season. Local racers are still eyeing the prize at season’s end, a track championship and a share of the IITI Racing Group $10,000 point fund.

The IITI Racing bonus point fund will pay the top five in points for all six weekly classes. To be eligible for the point fund, racers must have an IITI Racing decal on their car each time they race at Davenport.

Parity has been the name of the game in the Outhouse and Storage to Go Container Rentals IMCA Late Models. Eight different drivers have won late model features this season. Six of the eight were in the top ten of IMCA National Late Model point standings as of July 28th.
By points, Matt Ryan of Davenport holds an eleven point lead over defending track champion Andy Nezworski. Joe Beal is twenty-five points back in third. Evan Miller is fourth in points twenty-seven markers behind.

Three drivers top the Wangelin’s Auto IMCA Modified division. Chris Zogg and Matt Werner are tied for the point lead. Each have two feature wins this season. Ben Chapman is third, just two points back. Should the leaders falter, Charlie Mohr is lurking fourteen points off the lead.

Five feature wins has Tony VonDresky on top of the Koehler Electric Outlaw Street Stock class. However, only eight points separate first through fourth place in Street Stock points. VonDresky has a four-point lead over second place Landen Chrestensen. Donnie Louck is currently five points back in third. Fourth in points is Jesse Owen, eight behind the leader.

Logan Veloz has a sizeable lead in the D&K Home Products IMCA SportMod point standings. Seven feature wins has Veloz thirty-seven points ahead of second place Rayce Mullen. Josh Starr is currently third in points. Ryan Walker and Dakota Cole are fourth and fifth respectively in points.

In Theisen’s IMCA Hobby Stock points, Jordan Miles has an eleven point lead over Randy LaMar. Karter Miles is twenty-four points back in third place.

Cyle Hawkins is dominating the Fred’s Towing & Cantrell’s Towing 4-Cylinder points. Cyle has a 50-point lead over Shawn McDermott.

Complete point standings are available on My Race Pass “https://www.myracepass.com/tracks/1405”.

The next race is Friday, August 9th. It is Halloween Night at Davenport Speedway. Following that event, racers will then have an extra week to prepare for the Season Championships on Friday, August 23rd. Post-season racing action begins September 6th, with the Night of Destruction.
