Record car count will top 300 for Spring Nationals
BEATRICE, Neb. (March 11) – Pit parking will be at a premium as 300-plus drivers from 16 states and Canada take their turn on the track Friday, opening night of Spring Nationals at Beatrice Speedway.
Both the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod entry numbers were at or near 90. More than 40 IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and a similar number of IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks were expected and promoter Toby Kruse said 34 Mach-1 Sport Compacts took practice laps on Thursday.
There’s been no change in the race day schedule as pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m., hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. this evening. Pits open at 2:30 p.m., hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Modifieds race for $2,000 to win and a minimum of $200 to start both nights in their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers.
Stock Cars race for $500 to win and $100 to start each night while Northern SportMods vie for $500 to win and $75 to start. Hobby Stocks chase a top prize of $400 with $75 paid to start each night.
Saturday’s Mach-1 Sport Compact feature pays $200 to win.
IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded in all five divisions. Jet Racing Central Region points will be awarded to Modifieds, EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region points to Stock Cars and Big Daddy Race Cars Northern Region points to Hobby Stocks.
Pit passes are $25 on Friday and Saturday. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and $5 for kids ages 10 and under.
