Donnellson, Ia (April 18, 2014) – On a beautiful Spring evening in Donnellson the fans were treated to some very fast racing on Pepsi Night. The kids and parents alike were treated to a surprise as they all got pace truck rides during the features. Since the track needed a complete packing after the previous feature each kid got about 5 laps around the 3/8 mile. The kids and even some parents had huge smiles on their faces as they got out of the pace truck. They had the best seat in the house as each driver took their pace laps. Hearing the roar of the engines right behind you and seeing the cars and drivers getting ready for their anticipated feature is something some kids will remember many years from now.
On to the racing, the IMCA Sport Compacts took to the track first and the 16 drivers wasted no time making it 3 wide to try to get to the front. Josh Barnes took an early lead but had quick pressure from Brandon Reu who took over the top spot. Going in to the closing laps Austin Becerra showed why is going to be tough to beat in 2014 bymaking the pass and taking the win. Brandon Reu came in 2nd, Josh Barnes 3rd, William Michel 4th, and Alyssa Steele in 5th. Alyssa is starting to show she is going to be a contender in 2014.

The IMCA Hobby Stocks might be short in numbers but they put on 12 laps of bumper to bumper racing. Dustin Griffiths took the narrow vicory over Dane Blozovich with Aoron Osweiler and Andrew Hustead close behind.

Seventeen IMCA Sport Mods took to the race track and they showed why drivers are talking about Lee County Speedway. In the last 2 weeks there has not been a caution in the Sport Mods. That’s 40 laps of racing without a yellow flag. You are not going to see that anywhere on a 3/8 mile track. Robert Ancell is taking a liking to the speedway getting his 2nd consecutive win. The race for 2nd place was intense during the middle of the event with Tony Dunker making a 4 wide pass going into turn 1 to give him a 2nd place finish. Phillip Cossel came in a close 3rd, Brandon Dale 4th, and Jim Gillenwater came in 5th.

The Stock Cars each week keep putting on a “Show” at the Lee County Speedway. Ray Raker took the early lead but Jim Redmann was on a mission. Once he got to to the lead he cruised on to the win. Jim Lynch charged thru the field to take 2nd, along with Jason Cook for 3rd, and Ray Raker for 4th.

The last feature of the evening saw the IMCA Modifieds take the track which still had lots of speed left in it. Levi Smith led the first 15 laps in dominate fashion with Brandon Ruffcorn in hot pursuit. A yellow bunched up the field and on the restart Jeff Waterman made a pass in turn 2 to take the lead. Another yellow came out and involved Smith and Ruffcorn. On the next restart it was Andrew Schroeder, Brandon Banks, Jeff Mueller and Dennis Laveine all looking for that top spot. Coming out of turn 4 for the checkers Brandon Banks had the lead from a clean slide job but Waterman did the dive under to get to the checkered flag first.
