Results from the Cletus “Mudcat” Murray Memorial at I-35 Speedway

WINSTON, MO (May 11, 2024) – After two weeks off, we were excited to see action on track again on May 11th for the Cletus “Mudcat” Murray Memorial at I-35 Speedway. While remembering Mudcat, we also want to take a moment to remember a few more members of our racing family, Bob Reber and Greg Clemons. Bob, being a flagman for us for many years, has had the flag stand at I-35 named in his memory.

For on track action, Grant Sheetz and Nic Hanes continued their domination in the Junior Sport Compacts and Medieval USRA Stock Cars, both winning five features this season. Chris Leathers continued his streak of feature wins to two in our USRA B-Mod division. Tyler Hibner made his season debut in Late Models, and took home the feature win, but he could not quite catch Houston Johnson in the USRA Modifieds, who also went back-to-back in feature wins this weekend in the USRA Modified Division.

We had two first time feature winners for the season this weekend, with Michael Hascall in E-Mods and Conrad Kaufman in Pure Stocks. Jakub Hisel, two-time feature winner this season was back at the track after an incident several weeks ago damaged his Pure Stock but wasn’t able to catch Kaufman in the closing laps. Last but not least in the Sport Compact division Brad Mick and David Miller put on a great show for the remaining fans, running side by side for the finals laps until Mick was able to clear Miller in turn one after the white flag.

Finally, a thank you to all drivers and fans for putting on a good show and working with a slightly altered schedule while we worked through some speaker issues. Even with the speaker problems, the program started on time and ended a little over 3 hours.
