Robbie Reed #5 Fly’s into I-35 Speedway McCarthy Auto Group Winner’s Circle
WINSTON, MO (August 29, 2015) – Kicking off the night in style the E-Modifieds would take to the three-eighths mile of dirt and would not disappoint with great racing action throughout the pack. Matt Dorssom #3d would use heat race win momentum to launch him out front and on to his second victory this season. Other heat race winner and one time leader Colby Kearney #89k would put up a gallant effort only to come up one spot short settling for second place this racing night. Final heat race winner Corey Myers #15 and Jacob Blair #81 would battle side by side for several laps with Myers edging Blair to place third leaving the fast rookie Blair to place fourth. Donnie Brown #36h, driving a barrowed car from his brother, would round out the feature’s top five.
Hobby Stocks would take to the track next with Mich Ross #34 claiming the night’s top spot adding to his point lead. Ross was never challenged on his way to victory with Conner Masoner #47x placing second. Third place would see heat race winner Carson Masoner #13x beat fourth place finisher Lane Chew #37 to the checkers. Kyle Rowland #5 would place a very solid fifth. Other heat race winner was Greg Gilbert #23g.
Back to the track again this week with extra money on the line from Sammon Farm the Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racers would roar to the track. With great racing action between father Jack Simmons #J2 and heat race winner and son Keith Simmons #5 battling the entire feature. With lap traffic coming into play Keith Simmons would suffer a flat left rear tire and be taken from winning contention. This would turn the lead back over to Jack Simmons who would cruise to McCarthy Auto Group Winner’s Circle. Dennis Fair #4f and Tom Wade #1 would battle back and forth with Fair placing second and Wade placing third. Fourth place would see Lonnie Farley #44 with Andy Wiles #53 fifth. Other heat race winner was Chris Heitman #39 who would develop mechanical issues taking him from the feature.
Grand Nationals would see the two heat race winners starting side by side in row one and finishing one and two when the checkers were shown. Donnie Brown #26 would lead every lap of the feature and claim the win with Buz Kaster #54 a very close second. Austin Johnson #98 would get by a fast Bobby Lopez #1L to place third and fourth respectively. Houston Johnson #97 would move from the back of the pack to finish a solid fifth.
USRA B-Modifieds would take to the track next and would not disappoint the full grandstand of fans. The race was fast and furious with several drivers taking their turn at the front of the field. Heat race winner Nic Hanes #9h would jump to an early lead and appear to be the top car on this night, until current point leader Tim Eaton #211 would use the extreme high line passing Hanes for the lead. Eaton would not be denied as he would see the checkers first in this feature event. Doug Keller #77 would charge to the front finishing a close second with Steve Starmer storming into third place. Early leader Nic Hanes would fade late to place fourth as other heat race winner Randy Ainsworth #57 fifth. Final heat race winner was Ronnie Miller #76 who would develop mechanical problems taking him from the feature.
As always USRA Stock Cars were in fine form with side by side racing all over the track. Dean Wray #77 would use a front row starting spot to launch his way out front never to be challenged on his way to victory. Jason Estes #997 was the big mover of the feature racing his way to place second. Thomas Roberts #65x and Jon Boller Jr #20x would battle to the line with Roberts edging Boller to finish third and fourth. Heat race winner Alvie Christofferson #22a, in his first visit to I-35 Speedway this 2015 racing season, would place a solid fifth. Other heat race winner was Jeff Dixon #88.
Ending the night in style the USRA Modifieds would see a new winner this season as Robbie Reed #5 would win both his heat race and the feature on this night. Reed was challenged early and often by other heat race winner Dennis Elliott #29. Elliott could not find a way around the fast Reed and would have to settle for second place. Steven Glenn #26s would charge from the back of the pack to the front and finish third. Anthony Logston #38 and John Hanson #2h would duel to the end side by side and wheel to wheel at the line with Logston placing fourth and Hanson fifth.
I-35 Speedway would like to thank the Hillbilly Smith family and Dixon Racing for their donation of two bicycles that were given away.
