Schutt/Jackson Capture Midway Features In Preparing For Hot Summer Nights Event
LEBANON, MO (July 28, 2012) – Lebanon drivers Brian Schutt and Kris Jackson both captured feature wins in the Factory Stock and B Modified features Saturday Night in preparing for the running of the Hot Summer Nights program coming next weekend.
Factory Stock feature action saw Matt Miller jump to the opening lead from his front row starting spot. Caution flew after 1 lap as several cars spun around including pointss contender Bob Gustin, Joe Francis, Shawn Whitman and Karla Lampe. On the restart, Miller was keeping Dylan Keeper behind him as Brian Schutt had moved quickly to the front pack. Miller was setting quick pace as Schutt was putting on pressure. At lap 9, Schutt took over the lead as Miller,Keepper and current oint leader Tim Petty were bumper to bumper. A late caution bunched the pack up as Miller and Keepper would get a last shot at victory. Schutt got the much needed good restart and grabbed his 5th win of the season while Miller, Dylan Keepper, point leader Petty and Frank Escamilla rounded out the top 5 runners.
Kris Jackson would keep his hot streak alive,but it wasn’t easy as it took him until lap 13 before he took the lead. Lebanon’s Brian Myers took the opening lead from Bil Schaar at the start. With Myers in front, point leader Ted Balinger charged into second place while Jackson was following. On lap 4 Jackson and previous weeks winner DeWayne Hobbs made contact and spun together. On the restart, Ballinger took the lead from Myers while Jason Otto slid into second place. Michael Jones then powered to the lead as spots between several drivers were switching back and forth. Hobbs had quickly moved into second place and overtook Jones on lap 11. Hobbs then saw Jackson putting on pressure.On lap 13, Jackson moved around Hobbs in grabbing his third points feature of the season with hobbs, Jones, oint leader Ballinger and Otto in the top 5.
Midwest Modified point leader Sam Petty kept his winnng ways at Midway as he grabbed the lead from brother Jamie Petty on lap 8 andtook home his 12th points win of the season. Jamie took the opening lead on lap 1 as caution waved with Keith Cheever, Billy Pearce and Earl Muilenburg all got together. After starting 11th, sam Peety had moved all the way to 2nd place. On the restart, travis hill quickly shot around Sam Petty a they swapped positions lap after lap. With a tight pack up front, Chris Cheever started to join the race. On lap 9, Sam Took his number 9 around Jamie’s car and then had to hold off Travis Hill to take the win with Hill, Jamie Petty, a fast charging Billy Pearce and Cheever in the top 5 finishers.
Rob White took full advantage of his front row starting position and would lead all 15 laps in the Pure Stock class. With White all by himself the race for second was good racing.Christopher Sawyer and Monk Barker went bumper to bumper as Joe Francis driving his wifes Stacye’s was racing with rookie Caleb Starnes for position. On lap 10,Francis moved around Sawyer to get second place but couldn’t run down White. For White it was his 9th feature win of the season.Francis stayed in the second place spot while Starnes,Sawyer and Barker completed the top 5.
Street Stocks had a very small car count tonight and they competed in the Factory Stock class while those who were present recieved points for their Factory finishes.
Friday and Saturday Night August 3rd and 4th will be the running of Midway’s Hot Summer Nights unique format.
Friday night will feature a double elimination bracket tournament with Factory Stocks, B Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Midwest Modifieds. This different style of racing will see drivers going one on one until a driver losses twice.The finish of the Bracket racing will determine the starting line-up for the Main Event features on Saturday Night’s good paying features.
Saturday night will feature Main Events for those 4 classes plus Legends Cars and a regular feature for Street Stocks.Each night will give 25 bonus points for drivers in the championship chase.
Friday Night Grandstand Admission will be $10 for Adults while Saturday will be $15. Factory And B Modified Features will pay $750 to win and $75 to start.
Drivers in B Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Pure Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Strret Stocks may compete for this event by bringing and running under their normal track rules. Legends compete under INEX 600 Series racing.
Friday night racing starts at 8PM while The first race Saturday will start at 7:30.
