SPRINGFIELD, MO (June 26, 2012) – Springfield Raceway owners Jerry Hoffman and Doug Bland have announced today that the “Quick-Quarter” of the Springfield Raceway will be moving back starting times 30 minutes effective for this Saturday Nights events high-lighted by the 2nd Annual Rob Burgess Memorial presented by Garfield’s Resturant and Pub located both in Joplin and at the Landing in Branson,Missouri featuring a $500 to win feature for the Casey’s General Stores Midwest Modz along with a full Transport Graphics Championship Chase event.
” The time is right now to push everything back 30 minutes as the Summer Months start to get us.” stated both Hoffman and Bland. The pit gates for the events will open at 4:30 with Hot laps to begin at 6:30. Drivers meeting will be at 6:10 time frame and racing at 7:30. The cut-off time for drivers is now at 6:45. Grandstand Gates will now open at 5:30. “We plan on doing this through the Summer months. Any changes will be announced for Special Events.
The Midwest Modz will be competing this Saturday for the title of the Rob Burgess Memorial winner. Burgess and his Leslie Floors Company in the Joplin area were very strong supporters of Springfield Raceway and especially the Midwest Modz Class. Burgess passed away last year while competing in a Bowling Tournament in Nevada. Last season 23 entries checked in for the 1st event paying $500 to win. Trevor Drake of Webb City took the lead around the half way mark of the race to capture first annual event along with a special Trophy as Rob’s Bowling Ball was mounted into a very nice traveling type prize.
Garfield’s Restaruant and Pub again this season has come forward to help promote and sponsor this event. The gough family have 2 excellent locations with 1 in Joplin and the other in Branson at the beautiful Landing.
This season the feature will pay $500 to win and $110 to start. This will be a track points race, but drivers will open draw and use passing points with the top 10 redrawing for starting spots. The event is open only to Midwest Modified drivers that compete regulary at the area tracks. No A Mod or B Mod drivers along with upper class drivers are eligible. There will be a $25 car entry fee.
“Rob really loved Modified racing, but felt the cost was getting to high for both types of Modifieds in the area.” quoted Jerry Hoffman. “When we came up with this cheaper type of modified, he was very excited about it and was wanting to help get it going at the very start and did.”
Other action will include the Budweiser USRA Modifieds, Reliable Chevrolet USRA B Modifieds, Wheeler Metal Legends and Young Lions, Pepsi Pure Stocks and Street Stocks.
Again starting times have been moved back 30 minutes starting this Saturday Night.
Grandstand Admission is only $12 for Adults with kids 6-12 $5 and under 6 Free. Pit passes are $25.
