126 Cars Entered at Platte Valley Bank Night at the Races I-35 Speedway
WINSTON, MO (June 6, 2015) – With a pit full of cars and grandstands full of fans the Non-Wing Sprint Cars would kick off the night’s action with a make-up feature from May 16, 2015. With great racing action throughout the field, heat race winner Mitchell Moore #51 would take the early lead and look to be the car to beat. That was until a heroic high line move on the last turn of the last lap by Cody Baker #38 would put in him McCarthy Auto-Group Winner’s Circle. Moore would have to settle for second as Chad Goff #9x would race his way through the pack to place third. Other heat race winner Josh Stephens #09 would finish fourth with Chad Shields #11s fifth.
Next to take to the track, with a flash from the past, were the always entertaining Show-Me Vintage Racers. Using heat race win momentum Jim Snedeger #22 would pilot his hotrod into victory lane. Early race leader Damon Clevenger #6 would hold the ageless wonder of Jim Clevenger #76 to place second holding Jim to third. Mickey Fleethart driving car #20 would have a solid run after recovering from an early race mishap to place fourth with Mike McDowell #24 rounding out the top five.
Growing in number each week the E-Mods were next to tackle the three eighths mile of dirt. Continuing his winning ways Jeremiah Asher #02xa would again stand tall in the winner’s circle. Jeremiah would be challenged late by his son Anthony Asher #20x who would go on to finish the night in second place. Allie Mulich would again show poise and consistency by bringing her #90 car home third. Daniel Harris #319 was the big mover of the feature as he and Jordan Dawson #j90 would battle wheel to wheel to the checkers with Harris fourth and Dawson fifth. Heat race winners included Jeremiah Asher #02xa, Anthony Whitham #26, and Colby Kearney #89k.
Grand Nationals would see some new faces at I-35 Speedway on this great night of racing action. Heat race winner Austin Johnson #98 would race side by side the entire feature with Tim Shields #42t. Johnson would hold on for the victory leaving Shields to settle for second. Other heat race winner Donnie Brown #26 would be in the mix for the lead the entire feature but be forced to place third. Buz Kaster would race his #54 through the pack for another solid fourth place finish. John Crews in his first night out in the #12c Grand National would impress all with a top five finish.
In a caution free Hobby Stock feature Mich Ross #34 and Greg Gilbert #23g would put on a display of how top notch racing should look by running side by side several laps. Heat race winner Ross would pull away by a car length for the victory leaving Gilbert to place second at the line. Tyler Clark #0x would again race his way to the front finishing third with Conner Masoner #47x fourth and Carson Masoner #13x fifth.
Non-Wing Sprints would again take to the track for their second feature of the evening. Chad Goff #9x, who would only need two wheels down the straights, would jump to the early lead and hold his position for the majority of the feature. Goff would be challeneged the entire feature by heat race winner Mitchell Moore #51. Moore with a daring move on the outside of turn two would mount the charge that mattered by taking over the top spot to claim the night’s feature win. Goff would place second by holding off the hard charger of the feature Ricky Stangl #24 who would go on to place third. Feature one winner Cody Baker #38 would start in the rear of the field to race his way to the front and place fourth with Kevin Risley #24k fifth. Other heat race winners were Curtis Evans #1p and Chad Frewaldt #4f.
With a packed field of quality USRA B-Mods the familiar face of 2014 USRA National Champion Chad Clancy #21c would not be denied as he would lead every lap on his way to victory. Clancy would be challenged by Jeremy Pittsenbarger #32p and Clint Baker #17x to the checkers. Pittsenbarger would have to settle for second place, holding Baker to third. Jim Cameron #96c and Nic Hanes #9h would duel it out to the line with Cameron fourth and Hanes fifth respectively. Heat race winners included Chad Clancy #21c, Clint Baker #17x, Troy Carlyle #44, and Ed Noll #15. B-Feature winners were Tim Eaton #211 and Steve Starmer #11s.
Continuing to perform with the highest standard of perfection the USRA Stock Cars would not disappoint. Swapping the lead in the early stages heat race winners Dean Wray #77 and Jason Estes #997 would appear to be the cars to beat. Wray would take the lead only to see Estes charge back by in the middle stages of the feature. Wray would regroup, take back over the lead and hold the top spot on his way to McCarthy Auto-Group Winner’s Circle. Estes would end the night in second place with Jon Boller Jr #20x third. Billie Hoover #21h would again race his way to a solid and consistent fourth place finish. Rounding out the night’s top five would see Jeff Dixon #88.
USRA Modifieds would end the night’s racing action twenty-five strong with the best of the best vying for the win. Zach Sanders #69 backing up his 2014 track Championship would close the deal on this night by picking up the feature win. Darren Shaw #11 would challenege Sanders early and often only to place second as the checkers fell. Mark Schafman #34, on his first visit to I-35 Speedway this 2015 racing season, would impress all with a third place showing. Big mover to the feature was Dennis Elliott #29 coming from a tenth row starting position to race his way to fourth place. Kyle Covert #7d7 would find I-35 Speedway to his liking as he would round out the top five. Heat race winners were Zach Sanders #69, Darren Shaw #11, Steven Bowers #77, and Cory Wray #69n.
I-35 Speedway would like to Thank Bouzek Racing and Nic and Misty Hanes for the two bicycles given away during Intermission activities.
