34 Raceway honors drivers at 2012 season awards banquet
BURLINGTON, Iowa – (Jan. 26) – 34 Raceway honored its 2012 track champions and top drivers during the annual awards banquet held Jan. 26 at Whitey’s Bar and Billiards.
Champions in all divisions received awards; in 2012, 34 Raceway paid out well over a half of a million dollars to racers during the six-month season thanks to the support of sponsors, drivers, employees, crews and fans.
Sixty drivers were eligible to receive money and awards with over $10,000 being paid out at the banquet. Of those 60 drivers, 52 were in attendance.
Track champions recognized included Nate Beuseling of Silvis, Ill., IMCA Late Models; Scott Hogan of Vinton, IMCA Modifieds; John Oliver Jr. of Danville, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars; and Tony Dunker of Quincy, Ill., Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods.
Dean McGee of Galesburg, Ill was also recognized for completing his 40th year of racing, the last seven of them in an IMCA Modified.
Sponsors who also own or drive a race car at 34 Raceway were recognized, among them Bob Knoll with Heartland Harley Davidson; Tom Bowling Jr. with Bobcat of Burlington; Randy Foor with Louisa Communications; Dennis LaVeine with LaVeine Sanitation; Mike and Lori Weikert with Weikert Iron & Metal; Tracy St. Clair with TA Auto & Tire; Dan Wenig with Family Motors; Teresa Thomson with Mike’s Auto Parts; and Bill and Ed Roberts with Roberts Tire Center.
