3rd Annual ASCS Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial Just 2-Weeks Away!
Wheatland, Missouri (September 12, 2013) – Anticipation continues to build for what has become one of the most coveted Sprint Car Shows in the nation, the 3rd Annual Lucas Oil ASCS Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial which is now just 2-weeks away! “It is rare that both the Winged and the Non-Winged cars compete on the same night at the same track but to do it two nights in a row in memory of Jesse and Daniel is really something special for open wheel fans, and it is a great honor for us to host the event here at Lucas Oil Speedway.” commented Track General Manager Dan Robinson.
The Winged Sprint Car portion of the event is headlined by the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Presented by MavTV with support from the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region. The Impact Signs, Awnings, & Wraps WAR Wingless Auto Racing Sprint Cars Presented by Impact4800.com will also race as part of the mega open wheel event on Friday and Saturday, September 27th & 28th at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri.
Friday and Saturday Night, both the Lucas Oil ASCS Winged Sprint Cars and the Impact Signs WAR Wingless Sprint Cars will each run complete shows including Heats, B-mains, and A-Main Events with both nights set to be filmed by the Lucas Oil Production Studios for broadcast on MavTV at a later date.
As an added bonus, Grain Valley, Missouri fan favorite Brian Brown will pilot a specially themed JHR #77 for the event as a tribute to Jesse and Daniel. “I am absolutely honored that Jack and Connie Hockett and whole Hockett family have asked us to fly Jesse’s famous #77 during the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial. All of us at Brian Brown Racing are going to work as hard as we can to carry the #77 with pride and hopefully win the whole thing!” exclaimed Brown, driver of the Casey’s General Stores/FVP/Impact Signs Winged Sprint Car. Rattlesnake Bend, Arizona’s Casey Shuman, son of National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Ron Shuman is scheduled to pilot the Jack Hockett Racing WAR Wingless entry both nights.
Jason Johnson, with his ASCS National Tour leading seven wins in 2013 leads the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour points standings over Albuquerque, New Mexico’s Johnny Herrera. Bartlett, Tennessee’s Jeff Swindell sits third in the points with Brad Loyet and Tony Bruce Jr. rounding out the top-5. Logan Forler, Seth Bergman, Dustin Morgan, Cole Wood, and Brandon Hahn sit 6th-10th respectively. The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region will race with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour as local favorite Jonathan Cornell has dominated the Warrior Region in 2013 and holds a commanding lead in the Warrior Region points. In the season long battle for the Impact Signs WAR Wingless Auto Racing points championship, Edgerton, Kansas’ Mitchell Moore holds a slim 20 point lead over Warrensburg, Missouri’s Taylor Walton. Spring Hill Kansas’ Chad Goff occupies the third spot with 622 points while 2012 WAR Champion Austin Alumbaugh rides in fourth. Centertown, Missouri’s Jeff Wingate holds down the final spot in the top-5.
