Dominacki tops Davenport Cheater Races

DAVENPORT, Ia. (September 13, 2014) – the annual Night of destruction at the Davenport Speedway, was true to form. The Cheater Races featured cars with exotic wings and wide tires and the Trailer Race was its usual smashing success.
In Modified action, Bob Dominacki returned to victory lane. Dominacki rocketed from his fifth place starting spot to the lead on the first lap. Bob led the rest of the way to the checkers, despite six restarts. Craig Crawford started on the pole and finished second. Brandon Durbin took third. Steve Johnson and Jerame Mowery rounded out the top five.
Perry Gellerstedt took home the hardware in the Street Stock class. Perry dominated the feature, leading all fifteen laps. Jeremy Gustaf came from deep in the field to finish second. Cary Brown took third, ahead of Mike Anderson and Bryan Ritter.
Mike McGarry made a late race move to pass Jared Miller and win the SportMod main. Miller would hold on for second, with Joe Grant finshing third. Jacob Beal and Dave Engelkens were fourth and fifth respectively.
Brandon Dahl led all twelve laps of the 4-Stock feature. Aaron Hitt, driving Zach Dahl’s car, finished second. Richard Dearborn finished third.
Ray Brown of Davenport was crowned winner of the Trailer Race. Ray Daily and his “Party Bus” was voted “most unique entry”.
The final 2014 racing event at the Davenport Speedway will be the All-Star Classic, next Saturday, September 20th. The event is highlighted by the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models. Also racing will be Modifieds, Street Stocks, SportMods, and 4-Stocks. All racing action will be on the historic Davenport half-mile track.
