USOMA Nationals at I-35 Speedway

WINSTON, MO (Oct 11, 2014) – Kicking off night number two of the USOMA National event at I-35 Speedway was the ever entertaining Outlaw Bat-Wing Mini-Mod’s in fine fashion.  Winning both heat races and both features for the weekend was Buzz Pool #6 coming all the way from Owatatonna MN.  Pool would stretch out an early lead from a pole starting position, only to see the lead fade in the final stages.  Coming to the line in a photo finish only inches apart #15 Nathan Kilwine would make a race of it with a dash for the checkers after swapping the lead several times on the previous laps.  Kilwine would be forced to end the night settling for second as Mike Larson #36 would ride home in third place.  In a hard fought battle for fourth and fifth the #5k of Tyler Kaeter would hold off the hard charge of #9 Dillon Kromschroeder, who would place fifth.

Making a weekend sweep in the Mod-Lite class Dillon Raffurty #46 would emerge victorious in both the heat race and the feature event.  Raffurty would gain the advantage early only to be challeneged and passed for the lead by #6 of Mike Morrill.  Morrill would slip high and see Raffurty overtake him for the lead and set the table for a side by side finish, with Raffurty gaining the advantage and Morrill placing second.  Early race leader and heat race winner Mike Kennedy #95 would slip to third place in the later stages and end the feature there.  Jimmy May #5j and #98 of Jeff Raffurty would duke it out for the fourth and fifth positions with May gaining the edge at the line, leaving Jeff Raffurty fifth.

Dominating both nights of racing action in the Non-Wing Sprints would witness #77 Casey Schuman in McCarthy Auto-Group Winners Circle.  After winning his heat race Schuman would use a pole starting spot to gain the advantage over the field and lead every lap on his way to claiming the victory.  Great racing ensued behind Schuman as Mitchell Moore #51 and Wyatt Burks #11w would battle constantly throughout the entire feature with Moore second and Burks placing third.  The always impressive Chris Parkinson #65 would race his way to the front and place fourth.  After winning his heat race and starting outside row one Tony Rost #99 would slip in the later stages to round out the nights top five.  Other heat race winner was Kent Christian #1c.

Ending the night and 2014 racing season at I-35 Speedway the Midwest Lightning Sprints would tackle the three-eighths mile of dirt.  After an impressive four wide salute to the fans in attendance it was time to get down to business for great racing action.  Using an outside row one starting position Austin Archdale #2 would charge to an early lead and appear to be the car to beat by leading multiple laps.  As the race wore on Archdale would start to fade as Mark K. Billings #51 would find his way to the front.  Billings would gain the advantage only to see Rick Hench #1 find the high line to his liking and pass all challengers on his way to the victory lane.  Hench would lead only the last three laps but would lead the one that counted as he would claim the checkers at the line.  Mark K. Billings would end the night by finishing a close second, as Archdale would come home third.  Ryan Kent #30 was the big mover of the feature coming through the pack to place fourth, as pole sitter Bobby Layne #01 would round out the top five.  Heat race winners were Austin Archdale #2 and Brent Burrows #51x.
