Double Features at Atchison County Raceway

Atchison

ATCHISON, KS (May 1, 2015) – First to take to the track on the double feature night of racing action was the Hobby Stocks as Tobin Bartlett #28 would lead every circuit to clinch his first victory of the 2015 racing season.  Bartlett was challeneged every lap by week one winner Josh Munsen #19 who would place a solid second.  John Willard #1/2cr would race side by side with Lonnie Myers #62 to the checkers edging Myers at the line to place third and fourth respectively.  Veteran racer Wayne Brooke #18 would race through the pack to finish fifth.

In the second Hobby Stock feature event of the evening #1/2cr of John Willard would lead every lap from a front row starting position to claim the top spot.  Josh Munsen #19 would race through the pack putting up a great challenge late only to come up a little short and settle for second place. Wayne Brooke #18 would have his hands full battling Darren Davenport #85, with Brooke holding on to finish third while Davenport would settle for fourth place.  Lonnie Myers #62 was a contender early only to fade late and place fifth.

With no make-up feature for the night the E-Mod class would try to tame the cage as Jeremiah Asher #02xj would charge from a front row starting spot to clinch the checkers.  Asher was challenged every step of the way by nephew Justin Asher #74 who would place second.  The big mover and shaker of the race was Chris Dishong #41 by wheeling his way from the back of the pack to the front contenders only to settle for third. Mathew Lance and Colby Kearney would duke it out until the bitter end with #12x of Lance fourth and #89k of Kearney fifth.

In the first feature of the Street Stocks the familiar face of Alvie Christofferson #22a would emerge as the victor by charging through the pack raking up the nights win.  Brandon Crockett #98 would again prove his driving ability by challenging Christofferson every lap only to come home second.  Josiah Birkinsha #7si and Larry Waters #53 would swap positions throughout the feature with Birkinsha gaining the advantage to place third leaving Waters in fourth.  Tom Smith #9 would use a steady smooth line to place a solid fifth.

For the second Street Stock feature of the evening the drivers would display some of the best racing action anyone would ever witness.  Larry Waters #53 and Daniel King #24k would race side by side with Waters high and King low for over eighty percent of the race.  One yellow flag would regroup the field and allow a four wide photo finish with Waters standing tall in victory lane.  Daniel King would slip ever so slightly in turn four of the last lap and slide to second.  Anthony Robertson #82m and Alvie Christofferson #22a would get into the mix at the line charging from turn four towards the checkers with Robertson third edging Christofferson who would place fourth.  Josiah Birkinsha #7si continues his consistent ways by notching another top five finish.

 

Feature number one of the B-Mods would witness Cody Brill #96 rise to the top of the leaderboard and claim victory number one of the 2015 racing season.  2014 Track Champion Rodney Schweizer #74 would show what makes a champion with a solid second place finish.  Truman Asher #73 and Paul Lanfermann #47x would battle the entire feature with Asher third and Lanfermann fourth.  Lance Dixon #03 would round out the top five.

B-Modified feature number two would see the lead change in the latter stages with Matt Dorssom #3d holding off Cody Brill #96 to claim the checkers.  Brill would place second with Gerald Wahwahsuck #110w third.  Truman Asher #73, in a barrowed car, would place fourth holding off the late charge of #74 Rodney Schweizer, who would place fifth.

Kids Mods were the next to take to the track as Nicholas Carpenter #33 would gain the advantage and never look back claiming the top spot for the evening.  Jace Whitt #26 would rally late to place second as Hayden Hinton #36h would place a solid third.

Sport Compact feature number one would see James Reed #1/2pi pass every car on his way from the back to the front and to victory lane.  Josh Conrad #08 would end the night in second with David Miller #55 in third place.  Jeremy Larabee would bring his #214 hotrod home in fourth place as James Lemke #17 placed fifth.

Feature number two for the Sport Compacts would witness James Lemke #17 charge to the early lead, never to be challenged as he would pick up the nights win.  James Reed #1/2pi was the big mover of the race by charging up to place second as the checkers were shown.  Joshua Conrad #08 would log another great finish by placing third with David Miller #55 fourth and Will Guthrie #78 fifth.

Ending the night’s racing events the “Cageman” series has begun with a figure eight style race which was pure entertainment for all in attendance.  When the smoke had cleared last year’s track champion Dave Cattrell #99 would find himself in the top spot.  Brad Simpson #30 would try every move possible to pass the leader but still only muster enough to finish second.  Richard Tolar in the Jeff Gordon lookalike car #24 would finish a solid third as the pickup truck of Brandon Leach #06 would finish fourth.  Ryan Chalfant #41 would race his Gran Torino to the front only to make contact with the inner wall ending his night in fifth.
