Elliott Sweeps Double Modified Features at I-35 Speedway!

“Big Daddy” Dennis Elliott #29

WINSTON, MO (August 15, 2015) – Kicking off the great evening of racing action on Malvern Trust and Savings Bank Night at the Races in style, the USRA Modifieds would take to the track early for their make-up feature from July 25, 2015.  Jumping to an early lead from a front row starting spot Dennis Elliott #29 would wheel his way to McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle.  Heat race winner Elliott would lead every circuit of the feature with other heat race winner Anthony Logston #38 a very strong showing placing second.  Houston Johnson #97 would cruise to a third place finish with John Hanson #2h placing fourth.  Austin Johnson #98 would round out the feature’s top five.

E-Modifieds would charge to the three-eighths mile of dirt and see great racing action ensue from green to checkered flag.  Heat race winner Matt Dorssom #3d would lead every lap and survive the late charge of second place finisher, Colby Kearney #89k, to pick up his first E-Modified feature win of the 2015 racing season.  Rookie of the Year contender Jacob Blair #81 would again show poise and consistency notching a third place finish on the night.  Chris Wright driving #02xa was the big mover of the race holding off the very fast charge of Kyle Henning #1 to finish with Wright fourth and Henning fifth.  Other heat race winners were Austin Bouzek #14 and Nick Little #7.

Visiting I-35 Speedway and keeping the great racing action rolling the Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racers would take to the track next.  Racing through the pack and claiming the lead late, Jack Simmons #J2 would stand tall in victory lane.  Chris Heitman #39 would challenge Simmons late but come up short as the checkers were shown placing second.  Heat race winner Dennis Fair #7f would recover from an early race mishap to finish third.  One time leader and other heat race winner BJ Page #64 would battle Allen Guthrie #51 to the line with Page fourth and Guthrie fifth.

In an action packed Hobby Stock feature event whom the winner would be in question until the last lap.  Josh Munsen #19 would work his magic and pick up win number two at I-35 Speedway this racing season.  Tyler Clark #0x was the mover and shaker of the feature by racing his way to place second.  Carson Masoner #13x and Kyle Rowland #5 would do battle throughout the race with Masoner third and Rowland fourth.  Back in the racecar after a five week absence would see fifth place finisher Conner Masoner #47x make his return.  Heat race winners were Mich Ross #34 and John Chipp #47c, who would both develop mechanical issues taking them from contention.

Grand Nationals would see two veterans of the class both winning heat races and placing one and two in the feature.  Donnie Brown #26 would battle tooth and nail with Buz Kaster #54, as Brown would pick up the win on this night of racing, holding Kaster to place second.  In a rare appearance in the Grand National class Jeff Dixon #75d would race his way to a third place showing.  Houston Johnson #97 would place fourth with Dale Eaton #3 fifth.

In a caution plagued, time shortened USRA B-Modified feature Doug Keller #77 and heat race winner Steve Starmer #11s would swap the lead several times throughout the race.  When the checkers fell if would be Doug Keller in McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle.  Starmer would place second on the night with Bud Wilson #77x a close third.  Clint Baker #17x and Nic Hanes #9h would battle with Baker fourth and Hanes placing fifth.  Other heat race winners would be Dustin Miller #52m and Randy Ainsworth #57.

In a caution free USRA Stock Car feature the familiar face of Dean Wray #77 would hold off the hard charge of heat race winner Jon Boller Jr #20x to claim the night’s top prize with Boller placing a close second.  Billie Hoover #21h would use the high line to perfection and place third with Jeff Dixon #88 racing his way to fourth.  Thomas Roberts #65x would round out the night’s top five.  Hats off to all the drivers in the USRA Stock Car class at I-35 Speedway for giving a lesson on driving perfection and fan entertainment.

“Hollywood” Dean Wray #77

 

USRA Modifieds would end the night of racing with feature number two.  Heat race winner Steven Glenn #26s would use a front row starting spot to propel him out front as he would lead the majority of the feature.  Dennis Elliott #29 would search high and low and find the low side to gain the advantage and take the lead from Glenn.  Elliott would claim feature win number two on the night of racing.  Darren Shaw #11 and Sam Florence #42 would both challenge Elliott in the latter stages only to no avail with heat race winner Shaw placing second and Florence third.  Steven Glenn would fade late to place fourth with Anthony Logston #38 notching another solid fifth place finish.
