North Platte, Nebraska (July 15, 2017) – Hearing the sweet sounds of victory were a select few at Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte, Nebraska on Saturday Night that included Charley Brown, Kyle Werkmeister, Bryan Herrick, Brady Weinman and Andrew Baumgardner.

Taking advantage of his starting position, pole sitter Charley Brown of Maxwell led from the onset to earn the win in the IMCA Modified Feature. Brown was able to work his magic on the high side to hold onto the lead and persevere throughout the race to be the first to cruise under the checkered flag for the victory. Putting together one of his best finishes to date for this season, Troy Douglas of North Platte was the runner-up in the feature. Douglas was involved in an early incident and recovered quite nicely to charge forward during the final laps to earn the podium finish. Starting on the outside of the front row gave Wallace wheelman Brandon Clough a good start to the feature, as he was able to showcase great consistency to stay among the leaders throughout the feature as she earn third place accolades. Brown and Mikey Dancer of North Platte won earlier in the evening heat races.

There was a lot of shuffling and changing of lanes during the feature event for the IMCA Stock Cars until Kyle Werkmeister was able to get to the point from his fourth row starting position. Once Werkmeister got to the front he never relinquished the position to lead the final eight laps to pick up the victory. Getting up on the wheel and finishing strong are nearly an understatement when describing Travis Demilt’s of Ogallala’s best finish at Lincoln County Raceway this season with a runner-up finish. Demilt started the feature on the outside of the fourth row when the green flag dropped. Jeff Whiting of Gothenburg battled in traffic for much of the feature until he was able to gain some breathing room. Whiting was able to use that breathing room to his advantage to the tune of a third place finish.

Cashing in on the opportunity that presented itself, Brady Weinman once again was able to lead the lap that mattered the most to win the IMCA Hobby Stock Feature. Weinman of Arnold started in the third row when the green flag was dropped and was able to drive his way to the second place position when a yellow flag flew for debris with limited laps remaining. Weinman was able to cut the deficit with the help of the yellow flag and then was able to pass for the lead on the final lap to escape with the victory. Crossing the finish line in second place overall was Nate Refior of Sutton. Refior led every lap but the first and the last lap. In the process of the feature event, Refior had built up a large cushion on the rest of the field until the yellow flag flew. After losing the lead, Refior was able to stay up on the wheel to finish second. Looking to build off of winning the heat race, Tanner Jones of North Platte was able to continue to get better and better throughout the feature event to finish in the third place position when the checkered flag was waved.

Continuing to dominate, Andrew Baumgardner was able to win the triple crown on Saturday in IMCA Sport Compact competition. Baumgardner of North Platte started out his evening by winning the heat race and the dash for cash. In the feature event, Baumgardner was able to lead every lap of the feature event to notch the victory. Working through traffic, Tom Baumgardner of North Platte was rewarded for his efforts with a runner-up finish. Staying heavy on the loud pedal, North Platte’s Cody Schimmer was able to rally in the final laps after the cautions to earn third place accolades.

The next scheduled racing action to be held at Lincoln County Raceway are on August 5th, the green flag is slated to drop at 6:30 p.m.
