100 Cars at I-35 Speedway on Lake Road Warehouse Night at the Races!
WINSTON, MO (September 23, 2017) – E-Modifieds would set the stage for a night of great racing action as heat race winner J J Baumli #46 and Dustin Talbott #63D charged to the front. Talbott would take the lead early only to see Baumli charge by and take the point with Caleb Pugh #8s in tow. Last time winner Chris Mercer #13 would start tenth on the field and work the track to perfection in route to the lead. Mercer would work both high and low getting past Baumli to capture the win. Baumli would hang on to second with point leader Randy Smith Jr #75X a close third. Talbott would fade slightly to finish fourth with Caleb Pugh fifth. Other heat race winner was Gary Ainsworth #14.
#13 Chris Mercer from Excelsior Springs, MO E-Modified Feature Winner!
Grand Nationals would take to the track next with lots of hard racing. Chad Fuller #0R would take the lead as Kacey Shields #42C would challenge until contact with Fuller would take him from competition. Heat winner Billie Hoover #97 would use the high line to run down Fuller taking the front to never relinquish on his way to McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle. Other heat winner and point leader Donnie Brown #26 would work his way to the front to place second with Fuller Slipping to third. Fourth would belong to John Hanson #54 with Tyler Miller #6 finishing fifth.
#97 Billie Hoover from Stewartsville, MO Grand National Feature Winner!
Midwest Outlaw Vintage was high in number and quality on this night of competition as Houston Johnson #20 would set the pace. Johnson would hold off the challenges of third place finisher and heat winner Chris Heitman #39 as the feature progressed. Other heat winner Ron Lefholz #20L would work from the back to the front and slip into second challenging Johnson for the front. Johnson would maintain the lead until his hood would fly up restricting his view and Lefholz would take advantage and the lead. Lefholz would go on to win with Johnson a very close second place. Fourth would go to Austin Johnson #30 with Bob Werkmeister #32W fifth on the night.
#20L Ron Lefholz Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racers Feature Winner!
Pure Stock would see side by side racing the entire feature with Kerry Ayers #99A picking up his second win of 2017 at I-35 Speedway. Heat winner Beau Wells #555 would take the early lead only to see it evaporate as second place finisher and point leader Cletus Murray #21M would challenge. Ayers would get by both in the closing laps to claim the victory with Wells slipping to third. Ron Hill #72 would have a good race placing a solid fourth as Anthony Persell #87 would end the race fifth.
#99A Kerry Ayres from Kansas City, MO Pure Stock Feature Winner!
Sport Compact would see a big field of competitors and a first time winner in 2017 as James Lemke #17 would lead every lap and pick up the win. Bobby Key #7X would come home a solid second with Dakota Girard #3W third place. Drew Tully #33 would notch a fourth place finish with the #44 of Shawn Huston fifth. Heat winners were Rick Girard #00 and Alvin Cooney #69C.
#17 James Lemke from Platte City, MO Sport Compact Feature Winner!
USRA B-Modified would see a loaded field of competitors take to the track with heat winner Bud Wilson #22W taking the early lead. Wilson’s lead would be short lived as other heat winner Eddie Schwope Jr #91 would move past and never look back claiming the win. Wilson would go on to place second with Nic Hanes #17X, back behind the wheel of a B-Mod, racing his way to third. Fourth would belong to the always fast Shadren Turner #17T as Jeff Elder #97J would impress with a fifth place run. Other heat winner was Dustin Crist #222.
#91 Eddie Schwope Jr from St Joseph, MO USRA B-Modified Feature Winner!
USRA Stock Car would see a familiar face as Dean Wray #77 would pick up his seventeenth win of 2017 at I-35 Speedway. Wray would not run a way and hide as Tim Shields #1 would challenge every step of the way but have to settle for second on this night of competition. Third place would go to Mich Ross #34X with heat winner Dan Jones #25 fourth and Aaron Sauter #83A fifth.
#77 Dean Wray from Jamesport, MO USRA Stock Car Feature Winner!
USRA Modified would see the who’s who of racing compete on the highest level as the feature got underway. Gunner Martin #75 would use heat race win momentum to propel him out front on the start as heat and other heat winner Derrick Hicks #78 would do battle. Hicks would slip in turn one allowing martin and other heat winner Dennis Elliott #29 to slip past. Elliott would challenge Martin until Chad Clancy #21C would enter the picture passing Elliott to challenge Martin for the front. Martin would not be denied on this night and pick up his first win of 2017 at I-35 Speedway and stand talk in McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle. Clancy would end the race with a solid second with Elliott third. Fourth would go to a charging Ryan Schaffer #R21 with Austin Johnson #98 rounding out the night’s top five.
#75 Gunner Martin from Blue Springs, MO USRA Modified Feature Winner!
I-35 Speedway would like to congratulate Leah Parmley and Bentley Hicks on winning the Bikes during Intermission. We would also like to thank Tammy Ash and Kayce Terhune as the “Battle of the Shacks” was a big success. Kayce would raise $267 for Ronald McDonald House and Tammy would raise $164 for St Judes Children’s Hospital.
