Davenport Speedway readies for SportMod Challenge
DAVENPORT, Ia. (June 6, 2018) – The area’s top IMCA SportMod drivers will be headed to the Davenport Speedway, Friday June 8th, for the 6th annual SportMod Challenge .
$2,000 will go to the winner of the 50-lap main event run on the Davenport Speedway quarter-mile oval.
The event has yet to see a repeat winner. Past SportMod Challenge champions are: Eric Pollard- 2013, Austin Moyer-2014, Jenae Gustin-2015, Tony Olson-2016, and Lucas Lamberies-2017.
Last year, Lucas Lamberies fended off a last lap move by Curtis VanDerWal to take the victory.
Weekly point races will be held in the IMCA Late Model, IMCA Modifieds and the Street Stock classes.
The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates open Friday at 4:30pm, the grandstand at 5:00pm, with hotlaps at 5:45 and racing to follow.
