Brad Smith in McCarthy Auto Group Winner’s Circle

WINSTON, Mo. (July 14, 2018) – The Rick Beebe Heating and Cooling Smokin’ Hot Summer Series headlined the night of racing at I-35 Speedway. In the USRA Modifieds Dennis Elliott grabbed the lead early and paced his way to McCarthy Auto Group Winner’s Circle. Behind him, Derrick Hicks and Mark Dotson battled hard for the second position. Dotson won the battle of sliders and finished second. Darren Shaw charged late to finish third, with Hicks fourth and Houston Johnson fifth.

The USRA Stock Cars saw Brett Heeter make another driver to victory. After being stuck in the bottom lane battling with Bryan Rigsby, Heeter found the top lane and drove to the back bumper of leader Kevin Anderson. Anderson left the top lane open and Heeter pounced, stealing the lead from Anderson. Anderson held on the finish second, with Bryan Rigsby third, Cletus Murray fourth and Jeff Dixon fifth.

The USRA B-Modifieds put on the best show of the night as five cars battled for the victory. Patrick Royalty held the lead early before making a mistake and handing the lead to Brad Smith. The rest of the race Smith held off Dustin Crist, Daniel Harris and 15th place starter Andy Bryant. Smith found victory lane, with Crist second, Harris third, Bryant fourth and Luke Nieman fifth.

The USRA Modifieds also ran a make-up feature from the June 30 date. Mark Dotson powered his way to victory lane for his fourth time this season. Dennis Elliott contested for the top spot but settled for second. Derrick Hicks, Austin Johnson and Shane Lawson rounded out the top five.

The ULMA Late Models were also in the house for a 20-lap main event. Greg Trulove jumped to the early lead and paced the first few laps. Tommy Cordray stayed patient and made his moves at the right time to take the lead. From there he dominated the rest of the race and picked up the win. Josh Poe finished second, Dylan Hoover third, John Willard III fourth and Greg Trulove fifth.

The E-Modifieds found a new face in victory lane as Steven Makar added his name to the E-Modified win list this season. John Ross claimed his best finish of the season in running second. A.J. Sayers finished third, Shaunie Lanning fifth and Bobby Lopez fifth.

After several cars were involved in a multi-car incident last week, the Sport Compact feature created stories of redemption. John Willard dominated the race on his way to his fourth win this season. Alvin Cooney, also involved last week, drove to a second place finish. Dave Petty Jr., Steven Bunton and Isaiah Penton rounded out the top five.

The Pure Stocks found a familiar face in victory lane as Ron Hill won his seventh race this season. Although, Hill elected to start at the tail of the field to let the young drivers of DJ Barnes and Rylee Fuller start up front. Hill ran the cushion and took the lead early but that set up the battle for second. Fuller finished second, Albert Curtis third and DJ Barnes fourth.

The Grand Nationals continued the two-car domination as Houston Johnson made an early race move to take a win away from Chad Fuller. Fuller finished second and John Hanson third.
