Davenport Speedway hosts Lucas Oil MLRA Late Models

MAQUOKETA, Ia. (April 18, 2019) – The Davenport Speedway will roar when cars and stars of the Lucas Oil MLRA Series compete on the, historic half-mile track, this Friday, April 19th. The open late models will compete for a top prize of $5,000.

 

Last year, Chris Simpson dominated the Davenport half-mile. The Oxford, Iowa racer led all thirty laps en route to victory. Brian Shirley of Illinois, finished second. Decorah, Iowa’s Tyler Bruening came from mid-pack to take third. Thirty-five late models were on hand representing eight states.

 

The Lucas Oil MLRA series is scheduled to make two stops at Davenport this year. The next race here is slated for May 3rd, on the quarter-mile oval. MLRA has previously competed at Davenport five times.

 

The Lucas Oil MLRA series is in thirty-first season. The series will compete in six states in 2019. Chad Simpson of Mt. Vernon, Iowa is the defending series champion.

 

The late models will be joined on the track by Modifieds, Street Stocks and SportMods. There is no entry fee for the support classes.

 

The pit gate opens at 4pm, the grandstand at 5pm, hotlaps are at 6:30pm, with racing to follow.

 

Tickets for the Lucas Oil MLRA race are $20 for adults, students and seniors $18, and children 12 and under are free. Pit passes are $35.
