Extreme Heat Cancels the Pepsi Lee County Speedway

Donnellson, IA (Friday, July 19, 2019) – With temperatures in the upper 90’s and heat index in the 100’s on Friday, July 19th, Brian and Marcie Gaylord chose to cancel the racing action that was scheduled at the Pepsi Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa. “Safety for the driver’s, their crews, and our staff was the first concern of ours” quoted Brian Gaylord. “Even if we pushed the start time back, the heat indexes were not low enough for us to feel comfortable in putting anybody in danger of getting a heat stroke or possible death” said Brian.

 

With the cancellations of Friday, July 19th’s events, this will bring one of the biggest paying events for the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, Donnellson Tire & Service IMCA Stock Cars, and Roberts Tire Center IMCA SportMods to the track on Saturday, July 27th. All three divisions will be racing for $1,500 to win, with $150 guaranteed to start the A-Feature. The nights action is being brought to you by J.J. Nichting Company and Chem GRO.

 

Complete payout for the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, and IMCA SportMods will be – 1. $1,500; 2. $1,000; 3. $800; 4. $600; 5. $500; 6. $400; 7. $300; 8. $250; 9. $225; 10. $200; 11. $175, 12. $160; 13. – 24. $150. Tow will be $75. There is a $25 entry fee for the Modifieds, Stock Cars, and SportMods.

 

Also in action on Saturday, July 27th will be the I-Smile Silver IMCA Late Models and Midgets. The IMCA Late Models will be racing for a top prize of $1,000 to win, with no entry fee.

 

All classes will be using a draw / redraw format to set the line-ups. The Late Models, Modifeds, Stock Cars and SportMods will be awarded IMCA national, state, regional, and rookie points, but no track points will be awarded.

 

Gates open at 4 PM, Hot Laps at 6 PM, and Racing at 6:30 PM. Grandstand admission will be Adults $15, Seniors (60+) $13, Students (11-17) $8, and Kids 10 & under FREE! Pit passes will be $30, ages (7-13) $20, ages (4-6) $10, and ages (3 & under) $5.
