EAST MOLINE, Ill. (June 13) – The car tiptoed off turn four and all could feel Shawn Mulvany’s sigh of relief.

Mulvany paced all 25 laps of the Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Late Model feature Sunday evening at East Moline Speedway.

“We almost stayed home,” Mulvany said in the winners circle. “We haven’t had much luck lately, struggling with little stuff.”

B.J. Jackson showed his nose a couple times, but Mulvany stayed the course on the bottom groove.

“This is great to finally get one at my home track. I think we finally found something. We haven’t been able to get forward so this is great.”

The race went without a caution. Gary Webb, Jacob Waterman and Andy Nezworski started to close on the front battle and finished in that order behind Mulvany’s seventh career Late Model win, but first in awhile.

Travis Denning moved out front early and stopped Jeff Larson’s win streak at three with the 20-lap J&J Camper Sales IMCA Modified finale. Larson, Nezworski, Brandon Durbin and Doug Lenth followed.

Point leader Jarett Franzen took the Legacy Corporation IMCA SportMod 15-lap main for his fourth victory. Logan Veloz, Dustin Schram, Brandon Jewell and Jacob Copley were next.

A veteran driver but a new winner took the checkers in the County Waste Systems Street Stocks. Rob Henry beat Jesse Owen and stopped the latter’s three-race win streak. Peter O’Dell, Rick Schriner and Veronica Anderson rounded out the top five in the 15-lap ender.

Mike Zemo, Jr. raced from the back to the Weekend Performance IMCA Mod Lites 15-lap win. Mike Morrow, Jon Padilla, Michael Dominguez and Anthony Guss followed.

Duke Fulton led all 12 laps of the Nostalgic Stock Car Racing Club feature, beating Andrew Hamburg, Mark Claeys, Brian Ashmore and Ben Hamburg.

The Riverbend Pizza Place Sport Compacts started the evening making up a May 16 rained out feature. Cyle Hawkins beat Dustin Begyn in that 12 lapper. The tables turned in the regular finale.

In the make up, Norm Marcov, Tommy Staggs and Jimmy Dutlinger followed. In the nightcap, Dutlinger, Staggs and Forbes were the rest of the top five.

A total of 97 entries hit the quarter-mile oval and racing was concluded by 10 p.m.

The season continues on the quarter-mile dirt oval this Sunday June 20 with The Salute to Gary Webb Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Late Model special with guest Kenny Schrader. The Late Models will run for $2,000 in honor of the 17-time track champ. All six other classes also in action. Gates open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:30 with racing to follow.
