WINSTON, MO (April 29, 2023) – One hundred thirteen (113) cars checked in for Generational Buildings Night at I-35 Speedway. The track was in great shape with multiple lanes as fans were treated to three and four wide racing.

We started off in the E-Mods tonight with points leader Adam Dunwoodie picking up the feature win, as he becomes the fourth feature winner in four weeks. Dunwoodie has pressure put on him lap after lap from second place finisher Tony Layne. Kenny Prince continues to have a good season finishing third and currently sits second in the points standings. Aaron Jones rebounded from a tough week last week to finish fourth and Mark Anderson had a good run finishing fifth.

In Pure Stock action, points leader Jeffery Sears picked up his third feature win of the season. It wouldn’t be easy for Sears as he would struggle to get by early race leader Johnnie Price but would eventually find his line to take over the top stop. James Silkwood would win the three wide three car battle and finish second with Trevor Hittle finishing third, Johnnie Price fourth and Mike Miller fifth.

Shayne Bailey would find his way back to McCarthy Auto Group victory lane as he picked up the win in Midwest Limited Late Models. Last week’s feature winner and current points leader Houston Johnson would finish second. Ed Noll would rebound from an earlier caution to finish third. Tommy Cordray would have a good battle with Paul Glendenning as they finished fourth and fifth.

Tim Eaton would pick up his first USRA B-Mod feature win to go along with an opening night E-Mod feature win at I-35 Speedway. Around the 10-lap mark, Eaton would finally find a line to get around then race leader Daniel Harris as Harris would come home second. Jace Whitt battled for the race lead early on but would wind up with a close third. Corey Myers, doing double duty for the first time this season, would take fourth. Jamie Aleshire would finally have some luck go his way and get a to five finish in fifth.

The race of the night would go to the USRA Stock Cars as Nic Hanes would grab the lead from the drop of the green flag. As Hanes would lead, the battle was shaping up behind him, where Chris Mercer and Jeff Dixon would eventually work their way around Hanes. Mercer and Dixon would swap the lead back and forth on the final three laps of the event and coming out of turn for on the final lap, Mercer would beat Dixon to the line by 0.074 seconds. Hanes would finish third. Points leader Tommy Ground would battle hard all race long finishing fourth. Darrin Schmidt in his first Stock Car feature at I-35 Speedway would finish fifth.

Tyler Hibner would pick up his second feature win in USRA Modifieds as he would have to maneuver around lap traffic with last week’s feature winner and current points leader Houston Johnson right on his back bumper. Johnson would finish second, followed by Lee Hibner, Tyler Grooms and newcomer Cold Ferguson.

Points leader Alvin Cooney would continue his hot start picking up his third feature win of the season in Sport Compacts. Brad Mick, would is battling for the points lead finished second. Harold Robb Jr, another driver doing double duty would finish third. Elijah Hoyt, who picked up a feature win a couple weeks ago and ended up on his top last week, finished third. Last years rookie of the year, Jonnathon Hartman, would get another top five finishing fifth.

Eddie Noll would pick up his fourth feature win in four races in the Junior Sport Compacts division. Payton Hanes continues to improve each and every week as she put the pressure on Noll in the heat and feature races as she finished second. Mandy Barr and Betty Wright get faster each week as they finished third and fourth.

Congratulations to Fan of the Week winner David Reil, sponsored by Austin Johnson Racing and Dixon Racing.

Join us next week for CSI Overhead Door Night as we celebrate a legend and champion of I-35 Speedway with the Cletus ‘Mudcat’ Murray memorial, with the Show Me Vintage Racers also on hand.
