WINSTON, MO (July 2, 2023) – One hundred ten (110) cars checked in for McCarthy Auto Group Night at I-35 Speedway. Mother Nature won the battle this weekend, but we would not let her win the war as races were moved from Saturday to Sunday. Drivers and fans gearing up for next week’s Generational Buildings Finish Strong Mike Tanner Memorial as the drivers put on a great show for the fans.

Tonight, we started with the June 3rd make up feature for the Jr Sport Compacts with Brycen Bouzek picking up his second feature win of the season. The second spot went to Payton Hanes followed by Grant Sheets, Maddy Barr and Betty Wright.

After some fierce battles in the E-mod feature, Casey Burnett would find his way into McCarthy Auto Group Victory Lane for the second time this season. Richard Layne, driving his son Tony’s car, would finish second. Mark Anderson raced his was to a third-place finish followed by 14 year old Londen McClure who had the best finish of his young racing career in the fourth spot. Brayden Abrams would round out the top 5 with his best run of season at I-35 Speedway.

Tyler Starmer picked up his first feature win of the season in the Pure Stock class at I-35 Speedway as he held off a stout field of drivers. Last year’s track champion Ava Dixon would finish second for the second week in a row. Points leader Jeffery Sears would come home third. Jakub Hisel would race his way to a fourth-place finish and Jon Boller Jr would finish fifth.

In the Midwest Limited Late Models, points leader Houston Johnson would pick up another win this season as he held off newcomer Joe Walkenhorst who finished second. Another newcomer Bobby Ruff would finish third, followed by Jimmy Dowell in fourth and Jackson Brawner in fifth.

The Vintage Open made another trip to I-35 Speedway as they would finally have a repeat winner with Mike Lefholz picking up his second feature win in a row. DJ Barnes who had taken the lead at one point in the race would finish second. Third went to Ron Lefholz, fourth to Allen Guthrie and fifth to Steve Tanner.

In the USRA B-Mods, Corey Myers would have a solid lead for a majority of the race, but towards the end Tyler Cadwallader kept creeping up to the back bumper of Myers. Coming to the white flag, they would pull even at the line. As they entered turns three and four, Myers would adjust his line to break Cadwallader’s momentum, giving Myers his first feature win of the season. Cadwallader would finish second. Stephen Clancy’s first trip to I-35 Speedway would net him a third-place finish, with Jeff Stotts finishing fourth and Chris Wright fifth.

In the Medieval USRA Stock Cars, points leader Jeff Dixon would be searching for his first win of the season but would get a flat tire under caution with three laps to go. Chad Clancy, driving for Tommy Ground, would inherit the lead and pick up this first stock car win at I-35 Speedway. Doug Keller battled up front all race long finishing second. Jason Estes made his first trip to I-35 finishing third. Gerald Wahwahsuck and Kristchon Hisel both had goods runs to round out the top five.

Tyler Hibner would pick up his fourth feature win of the season in USRA Modifieds. But it wouldn’t be easy as Tyler Grooms would start to run him down before a late caution would break Groom’s momentum. Grooms had a great side-by-side with Lee Hibner as Grooms finished second and Hibner third. Points leader Houston Johnson, who is still trying to get accustomed to his new car would come home fourth. Terry Vantrump would get his second straight top five finish in the fifth spot.

Sport Compact points leader Brad Mick would pick up another feature win on the year. Harold Robb Jr would finish second after a hard battle with Jonnathon Hartman, who finished third. Fourth went to Jeremy Sims and fifth to Michael Gardner Jr.

Brycen Bouzek finished where we started in the Jr Sport Compacts as his picked up his second feature win on the night, third for the season. Grant Sheetz made a late race pass on Payton Hanes as Sheetz finished second with Hanes third, Betty Wright fourth and Maddy Barr fifth.

Congratulations to fan of the week winner Tina Turner sponsored by Aaron Jones Racing, ASF Racing, Kever Racing, Scott Kunze Racing and Show Me Synthetics/ Robbie Skipper.

Join us next week for the Generational Buildings Finish Strong Mike Tanner Memorial where big money will be up for grabs in the Medieval USRA Stock Cars and the Sport Compacts.
