CJ Speedway Names New Race Promoter, 2024 Race Dates Set
Columbus Junction, Iowa: (January 21, 2024) – The CJ Speedway, located on the Louisa County Fairgrounds in Columbus Junction, Iowa has named their new Race Promoter for the 2024 Season. Larry Richardson had led the promotional efforts at the CJ Speedway for the last 8.5 years and recently resigned for personal reasons. The Louisa County Fair Board would like to extend a very heartfelt Thank You to Richardson for taking the Racing Program at the 4/10ths mile dirt track to a very high level.
During a recent Louisa County Fair Board meeting, Dan Keltner of Grandview, was named the successor to Richardson. Keltner comes from a racing family and has raced himself as well as worked as a track official. Keltner stated, “I am looking forward to the challenge of running the CJ Speedway and I look forward to building on the successful race program that Larry has established.”
The first event on the race track in 2024 will be an open practice scheduled for Saturday afternoon April 13th. The season opener will be held on Friday, April 26th and regular Friday night racing will be held throughout the summer. The Friday night race program will be run under the sanction of America’s oldest sanctioning body, IMCA. The four classes of cars running for Track, Regional and National IMCA points will be Modifieds, Stock Cars, Sport Mods and Hobby Stocks.
The High powered Late Models will return to the CJ Speedway on Friday, June 14th running a SLMR sanctioned East Series Malvern Bank event. This event will be the 3rd Annual Tony Stewart Tribute Race.
The Louisa County Fair race will be held on Thursday, July 25th and the Season Championships will conclude the 2024 season on Friday, August 16th.
