BURLINGTON, IA (July 21, 2012) – Saturday, July 21 was  extra special for four of the six  winners at 34 Raceway. Four  drivers claimed their first wins at 34 Raceway this season while two would make return trips to the winners circle. Getting their first wins were Andy Huston (sprints), Roseville, Il., Lonne Heap (modifieds), Media, Il.,  Dugan Thye (hobby stocks), Burlington and Dustin Ravelin  (4 cyl), Burlington. Nate Beuseling, Silvis, Il. took the checkered flag in the late model feature for the second time this  year and John Oliver, Jr., Danville got win number three in the stock car division.

Coming up this week Saturday, July 28 at 34 Raceway will be 101.7 The Bull Night with point race action for the W.T. Gabeline and Sons Trucking 305 Sprints, Coors Silver Bullet IMCA Modifieds, Mikes Auto Parts IMCA Stock Cars, Pepsi Hobby Stocks, Weikert Iron and Metal IMCA Sport Mods and the I-Wireless/Louisa Communications 4 Cylinders.  34 Raceway will also welcome USG employees. Also this week at 34 Raceway will be the annual Randalls Performance, Precision Equipment Truck and Tractor Pulls on Sunday, July 29.

In the first of six features of the night, Lonne Heap would take the checkered flag for the first time in the Coors Silver Bullet IMCA Modified division at 34 Raceway after taking the lead from Mike Weikert on lap thirteen of the twenty lap feature. A caution on the final lap set up a green, white, checkered finish  where Heap had to hold off Mitch Morris of Eldridge as he took the checkered flag by a single car length in an exciting finish.

John Oliver, Jr. took the lead from Tim Breuer on lap four of the twenty lap    Mikes Auto Parts IMCA Stock Car feature and went on to win his third feature race of the year. Oliver  had to work to stay ahead of Matt Greiner as they raced side by side and bumper to bumper the final four laps. Oliver would hold off Greiner taking the win by a single car length.

Andy Huston or Roseville, Il., would get his first ever W.T. Gabeline and Sons Trucking 305 Sprint feature win at 34 Raceway. Huston took the lead on lap two from his third row start and would pull away from the field early on. With laps winding down in the twenty lap feature, Ryan Jamison was closing the gap but Huston had enough to take the win with room to spare.

Nate Beuseling made a return trip to the winners circle taking the checkered flag in the IMCA Late Model twentyfive lap feature. Three drivers held the lead at different times including Sam Halstead, Beuseling, and Tom Goble. But it was Beuseling, who would pass Goble on lap twenty one,  that would go on to take the checkered flag for his second win this year in a late model thriller.

An excited modified racer, Darin Thye,  greeted his son Dugan in the winners circle when the seventeen year old took the checkered flag for his first hobby stock feature win in his racing career. The young Thye took the lead from his front row start working to hold off Dane Fenton in the first eight laps. Fenton made several attempts to take the lead but Thye would stick to the outside lane fending him off. On lap nine Fenton would spin and Matt Gavin would take over the number two spot setting his sights on Thye. But again Thye would hold him off. Gavins car would stall on lap ten and Jake Wenig would then try his turn at getting the lead. But the night would be long to the young Thye when Wenig would develop car problems and pull into the infield  with four laps to go. Thye would go on to take the checkered flag for his first win followed by  Eric Rowley.

The final race of the night saw Dustin Ravelin get his first win at 34 Raceway taking the checkered flag in the fourteen car I-Wireless/Louisa Communications 4 Cylinder feature. Ravelin took the lead from Bryerson Tharp on lap two of the twelve lap feature and would edge out a win with Billy Stanford on his bumper as they crossed the finish line.
