Engine auction proceeds add up to $12,850
BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 8) – Proceeds from the engine auction added $12,850 to Saturday main event purses at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.
Modified winner Jeff Taylor’s engine sold for $6,000. He was paid $1,050 for the claimed power plant, with each of the other 32 drivers who started the feature getting $154.69.
The gavel fell at $4,600 for the engine that took Donavon Smith to the checkers. He was paid $550 and each of the other 29 starters got $139.66.
Hobby Stock champion Shannon Anderson watched his engine sell for $2,300 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod champion Nick Roberts’ engine went for $2,000.
Both Anderson and Roberts went home with new crate engines courtesy of Karl Chevrolet. The other 29 drivers in the Hobby Stock feature each got $79.31 shares of auction proceeds while the other 29 starts in the Northern SportMod main pocketed $62.50.
This is the first time the Northern SportMod champion’s engine has been subject to the automatic claim and subsequent auction.
