Dubuque, 34 Raceway host first two events of Deery Brothers Summer Series
DUBUQUE, Iowa (March 26, 2013) – Tracks with very different Deery Brothers Summer Series histories host the first two events of the 2013 tour for IMCA Late Models.
Dubuque Speedway rolls out the red carpet for the $3,000 to win, minimum $300 to start lidlifter on Friday, April 5. The Brent Slocum Memorial is Saturday, April 6 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington and pays $5,555 to win and a minimum of $500 to start, plus $555 to the hard charger.
Four series events have been held at Dubuque, all since 2010 and all resulting in as many different winners.
Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Grandstand admission is $16 for adults, $14 for seniors, $10 for students and free for kids 12 and under accompanying a paid adult.
The Saturday show will be the 48th Deery event held at West Burlington. Mike Murphy Jr. of Colona, Ill., became the 29th different winner there when he took the checkers at last April’s race, held in memory of the 2004 Late Model track champion at 34.
Gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students, and free for kids 10 and under.
Pit passes each night are $30.
Jeff Aikey of Waterloo is the seven-time and defending series champion. He also leads all drivers with 58 career wins on the circuit. Marshalltown’s Darrel DeFrance has competed at all 404 events in series history, winning 13 times.
Eighteen dates are on the schedule for the 27th annual Deery Series, which travels to West Liberty Raceway on Saturday, April 13.
IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds are also on the card at Dubuque. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and 4-cylinders will run at West Burlington.
