Sprint Invaders to kick off Davenport Speedway 2013 season
DAVENPORT, Ia. (April 4, 2013) –The Davenport Speedway is starting the 2013 season the same way it finished 2012, by hosting the Brockway Mechanical & Roofing Sprint Invaders.
The winged warriors will race on the quarter-mile oval, at the Davenport Speedway on Saturday, April 6th. Also competing at the same event will be 4-Stocks and IMCA SportMods.
At the Sprint Invaders last visit in September, the races were held on the half-mile track. Kaley Gharst of Decatur, Illinois, dominated the race, leading all twenty laps.
The Brockway Mechanical & Roofing Sprint Invaders have already started their 2013 season. Sixteen year old Paul Nienhiser, (Chapin, Illinois) looked like a veteran as he won the feature at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, on March 30th. The sprint car series also has date scheduled for this Friday, at Donnellson, Iowa.
This Saturday’s racing program also marks the debut of the IMCA SportMods at Davenport. SportMods will be a weekly class at the Davenport Speedway in 2013.
The high speed excitement moves over to the half-mile track on Friday, April 12th, for the Cornbelt Clash Late Model Series. The late models will be joined on the track by the IMCA Modifieds and DTR Street Stocks.
The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates will open at 4:30pm, grandstand at 5:00pm, with hotlaps at 6:30, and racing at 7:00pm.
