Burco Sales season opener now set for May 5 at Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (May 1, 2012) – The rescheduled Burco Sales season opener is now set for Saturday, May 5, at Independence Motor Speedway.
Along with the first action of the season for IMCA sanctioned Late Models, Modifieds, Stock Cars, SportMods and Hobby Stocks, a few other activities are planned for opening night. Prior to the first green flag of the season at the Buchanan County Fairgrounds, race fans are invited to the Independence Pizza Ranch for the annual Tip Night Fundraiser event for Karsyn’s Krusaders – Kickin’ Cancer’s Butt One Lap at a Time, which starts at 2 p.m. The purpose for the fundraiser is to honor local Make-A-Wish recipient Cameron Wilson and raise funds to help others affected by cancer. Along with Karsyn’s merchandise, which will be available for purchase at Pizza Ranch, there will be raffle prizes. Race cars will be on display from 2-4 p.m.
After stopping by Pizza Ranch, fans are invited to the race track where grandstands will open at 4 p.m. for opening night action. Karsyn’s Krusaders will be on-hand at the speedway and have merchandise available there, as well. They “adopted” Wilson’s Wish and are planning a special night of activities for him and his family prior to their trip to Disney World on May 9.
Hot laps are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with the first green flag set to wave at 6 p.m. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for students 12-17. Children 11 and under are admitted free if accompanied by a paid adult. Pit passes are $25 each.
In addition, May 5 will also be the first night of the 2012 Contingency Connection program at the speedway. Select drivers will receive over $1,500 each in contingency awards, based on where they finish in feature competition. Another two drivers will receive $100 product certificates, courtesy of Bully Dog. Approximately five drivers every week this season will walk away with bonus contingencies, courtesy of Contingency Connection.
Typically, Karsyn’s Krusaders Night is one of the busiest of the season at Independence Motor Speedway. Combined with opening night this year, it promises to be an exciting night as we kick off the 2012 season.
