Tournier’s Recycling to sponsor June 15 program at Independence Motor Speedway

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 10, 2013) – Weekly racing continues Saturday, June 15 at Independence Motor Speedway, sponsored by Tournier’s Recycling Inc. of Independence.

Tournier’s will offer can koozies to the first 500 people through the gate and will also provide T-shirt and hat giveaways throughout the program.

IMCA sanctioned Late Models, Modifieds, Stock Cars, Northern SportMods, Hobby Stocks and Sport Compacts will be in action during the sixth night of weekly points racing. Through five nights of the 2013 season the speedway has averaged 112 cars per event in the six weekly divisions.

Defending track champion Tyler Bruening has built a 25 point lead in the IMCA Late Model division, while Tyler Droste holds a slim three point edge in the IMCA Modifieds. Eleven drivers are separated by a mere 16 points at the top of the Modified standings.

Defending IMCA Stock Car champion Sean Johnson leads John Emerson by two points in that division and three drivers are within six points of the lead, held by Danny Dvorak, in the IMCA Northern SportMods.

Benji Irvine leads defending track titlist Justin Stander by 14 points in the IMCA Hobby Stocks and Merv Chandler has a six point lead in the IMCA Sport Compact division.

Weekly grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for students ages 12-17. Kids 11 and under are admitted free if accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $25.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6 and racing to follow.
