Buena Vista Raceway hosts round five of Karl Performance Hawkeye Dirt Tour
ALTA, Iowa (June 21) – Still looking for its first repeat winner, the Karl Performance Hawkeye Dirt Tour presented by XSAN travels to Buena Vista Raceway at Alta for a Tuesday, June 25 show.
Different drivers – Cayden Carter of Oskaloosa, Ryan Ruter of Kanawha, Darin Duffy of Urbana and most recently Steve Stewart of Burlington – have prevailed in each of the first four IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified tour events of the season.
Two runner-up finishes and a third-place showing in the last three events, however, have Richie Gustin of Gilman occupying the top spot in the series point standings.
The Modified main event is a 2013 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier, paying $1,000 to win and a minimum of $150 to start.
IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts are also on the card next Tuesday at Alta, running for all applicable points.
Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors and free for military personnel with ID and kids ages 12 and under. Pit passes are $25.
Chris Abelson of Sioux City was the HDT winner at Buena Vista Raceway in 2011. Jay Noteboom of Hinton won the series race there last year enroute to the tour title.
