WINSTON, MO (July 6, 2013) – Starting the night off right were the always fast and furious Grand Nationals.  Side by side racing set the pace early with Bud Wilson #75 and Travis Walker #71 swapping the lead almost every lap.  Bud Wilson made a charge late to capture the victory with Walker placing second.  Austin Johnson #98 would place third, with younger brother Houston Johnson #97 fourth.  Running up front early the #9p of Marty Powell would suffer an engine failure late to finish fifth.

Next to the 3/8 circle were the Show-Me Vintage Racers for their feature event.  Coming from last to first saw the Bobby Fleethart prepared #7 driven by Shane Wilson pick up his second victory of the year at I-35 Speedway.  Second place would go to Damon Clevenger #6 as he would hold off a hard charging Doug Parry #2, who would place third.  Jim Clevenger #76 would find his way to fourth place while Dave Baldwin #4t would round out the top five.

In typical fashion the IMCA Stock Cars would not disappoint the capacity crowd as they would race three and four wide throughout the field.  John Crews #12c set the early pace leading initially until Kevin Anderson #417 and Dean Wray #77 would overtake Crews late.  Anderson would claim the night’s top spot with point leader Wray second and Crews slipping to third.  Thomas Roberts #65x would hold off a hard charge by Jake Cameron #86c to finish fourth and Cameron fifth.

National IMCA Sport Mod Point leader Nick Roberts #23jr picked up win number five in this young 2013 season.  I-35 Speedway point leader Randy Ainsworth #57 would finish second, ever tightening the ongoing point battle in the IMCA Sport Mod class.  Third place witnessed the finesse driving of Clint Baker #17x as he would hold off Arron Duvall #27s who would place fourth.  Rounding out the nights top five and getting faster each week was Wes Bestgen driving #15b machine.

IMCA Hobby Stock point leader Kenny Champ #3 would drive his way to victory from an outside row three starting spot to lengthen his points lead.  The battle for second and third heated up mid-way through the feature as Lee Farmer #17f and Mich Ross #34 would race side by side, with Farmer placing second and Ross third.  Andrew Hustead #20 would hold off Tyson Overton #42t to place fourth, as Overton would drive home in fifth.

Going green to white to checkered flag in the IMCA Modified feature, witnessed Hunter Marriott #62 walk away to victory by over half a lap.  Second place would go to the #26s driven by Steven Glenn with Corey Wray #69n placing third.  A late race battle shaped up between P.J. Conger #19 and Buz Kaster #54, Conger would wind up fourth and Kaster fifth.

I-35 Speedway discovered during Intermission that we have some of the best Hula Hooper’s in the country.  As we would have a tie for the top spot and a very close runner up, contestants were asked to stand on one leg with their eyes closed in order to determine the winner.  Two weeks from tonight I-35 speedway will have another contest with the Hula Hoops for more family fun.  After the exciting racing action on the track, fans were treated to a fireworks display second to none.  Special thanks to Mike and Kyle Johnson for the special night at I-35 speedway, “Dirt Trackin at its Best”.

Hope to see all of our great fans next week for more Intermission entertainment with a raw egg toss to take place in front of the grandstands.
