IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win on ALS Night at Marshalltown July 19

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 9, 2013) – Racers against ALS Night at Marshalltown Speedway on Friday, July 19 will help increase awareness of the disease and raise funds to help families in need.

More than $3,000 has been added to the purse in conjunction with the event, during the Central Iowa Farm Store-sponsored program. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds race for $1,000 on the final night of qualifying for the 2013 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.

IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both run for $500 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $300. Mod Lites are also on the card.

Payout for all positions in the IMCA features has been increased courtesy of Racers Against ALS.

Former Iowa Hawkeye Brad Banks will be on hand to greet race fans, sign autographs and help increase awareness about Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a degenerative disease affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord and also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

After the races, Cookies pulled pork sandwiches and beverages will be served with freewill donations going to Racers Against ALS.

ALS Night is Marshalltown marks the fourth straight night IMCA Modified drivers have the opportunity to race for $1,000 to win. Southern Iowa Speedway hosts the Karl Performance Hawkeye Dirt Tour presented by XSAN show on July 16 and the regular weekly show on July 17.

The 22nd annual Harris Clash at Knoxville Raceway is July 18.
