BURLINGTON, IA (July 20, 2013) –  W.T. Gabeline and Sons Trucking night at 34 Raceway gave fans plenty of action Saturday night  July 20 as the point battles continue.  Brothers Ryan Cook, Hillsboro (modifieds) and Jason Cook, Mt. Pleasant (stock cars)  for the first time ever both won feature races  on the same night, at the same track, in their respective classes. Danville’s Justin Newberry held off John Schulz and Donnie Steward in a close finish for his first win this season and Daniel Keltner, Wapello, picked up his first mod lite feature win. Bobby Anders, Quincy, Il., and Austen Becerra, Carthage, Il. made return trips to the winners circle.

Coming up Saturday, July 27 is Crazy Coyote Bike Nike with racing action including UMP Super Late Models, Coors Silver Bullet IMCA Modifieds, Weikert Iron and Metal IMCA Sport Mods, Pepsi IMCA Stock Cars, I Connect You/Louisa Communications 4 Cylinders and Mod Lites.  All bikers will be admitted FREE with the agreement they will take a parade lap around the track at intermission on their bikes. (Bikers will need to stop by Crazy Coyote, Burlington,  to receive your free admission ticket.

Ryan Cook, had little trouble getting his first ever Coors Silver Bullet IMCA Modified feature win Saturday night at 34 Raceway. Cook took the lead on the second lap and was never seriously challenged in the twenty lap feature. But behind Cook were several drivers battling it out for the second position including Mike Weikert, Jr., Dean McGee, Bill Roberts and Mitch Morris racing bumper to bumper and side by side with several position exchanges.  But when the checkered flag few Waterman would take the checkered flag behind Cook for second  with Morris edging out McGee at the finish line in a side by side finish.

A nice field of I Connect You/Louisa Communications 4 Cylinders took to the track for their twelve lap feature with Austen Becerra picking up his fifth win this year at the 3/8 mile.  Becerra took the lead on the first lap being chased by Wayne Noble.  Noble desparately tried to catch the winner of four previous features gaining on the leader in the turns. But Becerra had too much on the straight aways and Noble would’t be able to catch the leader and had to settle for second.  Robert Kibbe, Jacob Brown and Larry Miller rounded out the top five.

The Cook family picked up their second win of the night when Jason Cook took the checkered flag in the Pepsi IMCA Stock Car main event , following brother Ryan’s win in the modified feature earlier in the evening. Corey Strothman took  the lead on the first lap and had to work to hold off Jake Wenig for sixteen of the twenty  laps. A yellow flag came out on lap sixteen and on the restart Cook got by Wenig and set his sights on Strothman. With one lap to go Cook pulled alongside Strothman on the back stretch and would take the lead going on to take the checkered flag for his second 34 Raceway feature win this year.  Wenig followed to finish third and Tom Bowling moved up from his 12th place start to finish fourth.

An excited Justin Newberry, Danville, climbed on his 305 sprint and gave a yell after holding off John Schulz and Donnie Steward  at the finish line to get his first W.T. Gabeline and Sons Trucking 305 Sprint feature win this year. Newberry took the lead from Jacob Glasgow on lap three of the twenty lap, 22 car feature and was never passed. Holding the lead was a challenge with three yellow flags closing up the gap he had developed. Using the inside line, Newberry was being chased by Jayson Ditsworth, Schulz, Steward ad Daniel Berquist as they exchanged positions behind the leader.  But Newberry was just too strong taking the checkered flag as Schulz and Stewart were on his bumper  in a side by side finish. Schulz would inch out a second place finish, Steward got third, Ditsworth fourth and Bergquist fifth. Ryan Jamison came up from his 22nd starting spot to finish sixth..

Daniel Keltner, Wapello, was greeting by an excited family and crew after taking a convincing win in the mod lite feature race. Keltner took the win by several car lengths for his first 34 Raceway win this year. Greg Rossell held off Evan Epperson to finish second, Epperson, Chase Flatt and Devon Rouse would round out the top five.

The Weikert Iron and Metal IMCA Sport Mods capped off the racing action with Bobby Anders, Quincy, Il., picking up his fourth win this year. Anders took the lead in the fifteen car, fifteen lap feature from  Rob Wilsey on lap five and went on to take the win by several car lengths.   With Anders holding a sizeable lead, the battle for second showed some close racing with several position exchanges for the top five spots. In his first race at 34 Raceway, Bryce Garnhart would move up from his thirteenth place start to finish second.
