WEST BURLINGTON, I (September 14, 2013) – Muscatine High School, Junior, Evan Epperson, picked up what was probably the biggest win of his racing career Saturday, Sept. 14.  Epperson held off several challenges by Gregg Rossell to win the $1500 payday after taking the checkered flag in the STARS National Mod Lite event at 34 Raceway.  Jarrod Schneiderman, West Burlington, took the checkered flag in the $1000 to win 305 Sprint feature and John Oliver, Jr., Danville and Sean Wyett, Danville, also went home with trophies winning the Stock Car and Sport Mod features during the Pepsi Smok-E-Bones challenge.

34 cars, 34 laps and one pit stop. That was the format for the $1500 to win Stars Mod Lite National event at 34 Raceway Saturday night, Sept. 14. 45 Mod Lite cars came to 34 Raceway for the big money. Following 4 heat races,  2 B-Mains and 2 provisionals the field was set for the 34 lapper.  Tracy Fritter  and Dusty Masolini set the pace for the green flag with Fritter taking the first lap. Following a caution on lap 5, seventeen year old Evan Epperson would get by Fritter for the first lead change of the race. But his lead was short with Mike Morrill taking the lead on next lap. Morrill led the next seven laps before Epperson would take back his previous lead and never give it up despite several challenges from Morrell and Greg Rossell who moved up from his fifth row start.  Rossell would move into the second spot on lap 21 following the 10 minute pit stop and  pulled along side Epperson in the remaining laps. Epperson, who is looking to a possible change to sprints next year,  would pull off the win for the $1500 holding off Rossell in an exciting finish.

Sean Wyett, Danville, picked up his first Sport Mod feature win on the last night of sport mod action at 34 Raceway Saturday night in convincing style. Wyett took the lead from Bradley Holtmeyer on lap 8 of the 15 lap race and pulled away to take the checkered flag in the nineteen car field. Holtmeyer, Adam Shelman, Bobby Anders and Tony Dunker wound round out the top five.

The Stock Cars put on a show with 20 cars starting the twenty lap feature. John Oliver, Jr., Danville took the lead from his front row start holding  off Blaine Dopler for the first four laps. Following a caution on lap five, Tom Bowling, Jr. would get by Oliver for a brief lead when Oliver would regain the number one spot one lap later. The two would exchange leads four times, race side by side and bumper to bumper  while also holding off Dopler and Jake Wenig.  Oliver and Bowling were side by side, bumper to bumper on the final lap with Oliver taking the win in an exciting finish by a car length. Wenig, Jason Cook and Kirk Kinsley would round out the top five.

Jarrod Schneiderman, West Burlington, made it two wins in a row after coming off a win last week on the 3/8 mile. Schneiderman took the early lead and was never seriously challenged in the twenty lap $1000 to win feature. But the fans were keeping their eyes on the second place battle with Ryan Jamison and Donnie Steward who were side by side, bumper to bumper for several laps. As Schneiderman took the checkered flag by a large margin, it would be Jamison following crossing the finish line to finish second, Justin Newberry would pass Steward to finish third.
